  • Four arrested in pot bust

    RAINBOWee^LAKEee^ESTATES–Four people were arrested Oct. 1 after the Levy County Sheriff's Office Drug Task Force received information of a potential indoor marijuana grow house at 11471 SE 136th Ter. in Dunnellon.

    A search warrant was executed in the late afternoon and upon entry, the task force discovered three hidden rooms through a passageway located behind a refrigerator.

    These rooms were used for the cultivation and processing of marijuana, according to the Levy County Sheriff’s Office.

    The following information is taken from public records provided by the Levy County Sheriff’s Office.

    David W. “Zoo Loo” Lewis, 28, of Archer, charged with three counts of possession of crack cocaine and sale of crack cocaine within 1,000 feet of public housing. Bail is $105,000.

    Stephen Matthew “Matt” Walther, 28, of Bell, charged with dealing in stolen property. Bail is $2,500.

    Katrina Ann Boudreau, 26, of Hollywood, charged with violation of probation (VOP) on scheme to fraud. No bond.

  • Home invasion suspects sought by Sheriff’s Office

    The detectives at the Levy County Sheriff's Office are asking for the public's help in solving a home invasion the occurred on Sept. 18 at approximately 9:49 p.m. at 10351 N.E. 88th Lane, Bronson.

    The 911 center received a “hang-up call” from that address and when deputies responded discovered the residents had just been the victims of a home invasion armed robbery.

    Nerl Abraham Cano Cifuentes, 28, of Morriston, charged with burglary and grand theft. Bail is $10,000.

    Justin T. Hart, 21, Chiefland, charged with theft of a firearm, theft/others, three counts of dealing in stolen property, fraudulent use of credit card and possession of firearm by a felon. Bail is $45,000.

    James Robert Blacketer, 38, of Old Town, charged with keeping a gambling house and possession of coin-operated device on a warrant from Marion County. Bail is $2,500.

  • Peanut man charged with selling more than nuts

    It apparently just wasn’t peanuts he was serving up at his roadside stand.

    On Sept. 1, Joey Barrera of the Drug Task Force arrested James W. Scott, 51, of NE Hwy. 27 for selling narcotics and marijuana from his vendor booth between Williston and Bronson.

    Scott was charged with the sale of marijuana, less than 20 grams and possession of marijuana following a four-month investigation led by Agent Rob Bowers.

  • Couple refuses to cede custody despite court order

    A Williston couple who refused to comply with a court order found sheriff’s deputies at the door, ready to do whatever was necessary to enter the home.

    William Bennett, 50, and Lori Bennett, 49, of NE 153th Court were arrested Sept. 15 after they refused a court order to remove their handicapped son from the home.

    Edwin Floridan Lopez, 26, of Morriston, charged with aggravated assault and domestic battery. Bail is $7,000.

    Timothy Scott Sterling, 45, of Bronson, charged with domestic battery. Bail is $1,000.

    William Grady Fortner, 27, of Bronson, charged with domestic battery. He was released.

    Terry Lynn Herndon, 51, of Williston, charged with violation of probations (VOP) on production of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. No bond.

  • Jailed inmate charged in Morriston theft

    A 22-year-old Coconut Creek man was charged with entering a residence in Morriston and stealing a Toshiba laptop computer valued at $220.

    Michael Kerklin, who is in the Levy County Jail on unrelated burglary and grand theft charges, was charged with additional burglary and grand theft charges in the Aug. 18 incident .

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Department reports the following arrests:

    • Michael Allan York, 50, of Yankeetown, charged with domestic battery. Bail is $3,500.

    • Michelle Lee McNeal, 21, of Bronson, charged with forgery or altered public record, passing forged or altered instrument, petit larceny – first offense. Bail is $11,000.

    • Dennis R. Cranfill, 49, of Inglis, charged with domestic battery. Bail is $3,500.

  • Woman charged with pointing shotgun at three

    For three months Valerie Melinda Campbell stewed because of something that was said about her mother. On Aug. 28, she’d had enough.

    Campbell, 28, of Bell was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after three people claimed she pulled a gun on them at NW 168th Lane, Chiefland.

    A male victim said he was asleep in his chair and awakened to find Campbell entering his home and pointing a shotgun at him.
