  • Williston Police Reports Oct. 21, 2010

    An Archer man whose license has been suspended 26 times was placed under arrest by the Williston Police Department.

    Shaun Lenly Standridge, 36, of Archer, was accused of felony driving while license was suspended or revoked after he was stopped for allegedly running a stop sign and turning without a signal. According to the report, his license was suspended 26 times, revoked four times, cancelled once and he was declared a habitual traffic offender twice.

  • No injuries as log truck rolls over in Goethe State Forest

    No injuries were reported when a loaded log truck rolled over on Gas Line Road in the Goethe State Forest on Tuesday at 4:20 p.m.

     According to the Highway Patrol, Johnnie E. Cooper, 71, was driving the truck when the right tires dropped off into a ditch of water. Eventually the right front fell into a hole and the truck overturned on its right side.

  • Four arrested on drug charges in raids on Cedar Key homes

    After a three-month drug investigation by te Levy County Sheriff’s Office in the Cedar Key area, drug agents served two search warrants simultaneously and arrested five subjects in the early morning raid on Oct. 19. 

     Upon receiving a complaint that the suspects were selling narcotics (pills) from their residence, agents infiltrated the suspects using a confidential source.

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:
       Beverly Ann Anderson, 48, High Springs, arrested Oct. 6, FTA, disorderly conduct.
       Nicholas Alan Bunch, 21, Williston, arrested Oct. 10, battery.
       Michael David Carmichael, 27, Cross  City, arrested Oct. 5, battery and resisting arrest without violence.
       Eugene Thomas Days, 43, Williston, arrested Oct. 9, theft/shoplifting.
       Charles Daniel Dubois, 29, Archer, arrested Oct. 11, writ of bodily attachment.

  • Memorial honors slain state trooper

    For 37 years, the place where Trooper Ronald Gordon Smith took his last breath remained an almost anonymous piece of earth, its significance lost among the pine needles, palmettos and oak trees.

    Now, there’s no mistaking that something tragic happened in that place next to U.S. 19 in Red Level, where Smith, a Florida Highway Patrolman of eight months, was gunned down at the age of 28.

  • Williston Police Reports

    The Williston Police Dept. announces the following arrests.

    •Kenneth Loren Wilcox, 51, Northeast 40th Street, Williston, grand theft. He allegedly took cash, and two checks from the counter of a florist.

    •Juan Delgado, 34, of Northeast 11th Street, No driver’s license. He was stopped for having a broken headlight and presented a Mexican license, but a computer check showed he had no license.

  • Levy County Sheriffs Reports 10-7-2010

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

    •Jeremiah Alan Ware, 24, Trenton, arrested Sept. 30, for armed robbery. 

    According to the report, Ware, and a co-defendant Eric Burke, robbed a Waco convenience store and “put the clerk in fear and threatened to kill him, while brandishing a metal tire iron…”

  • Sexual Predator moves

    In accordance with Florida Statute 775.21, this is a mandatory notification of the changing address of a registered sexual predator in Levy County.

    Shawn Lorenzo Wideman Sr. was convicted in Virginia in 2007 for sexual battery on a child and lewd and lascivious molestation on a child.
