  • Chiefland offender held on $6 million bond

    A Chiefland man is being held on a $6 million bond following a series of incidents Aug. 17 that included a high speed chase, assault and attempted murder on a law enforcement officer.

  • Levy County Sheriff's Reports 8-16

    The following information is taken from Levy County Sheriff's Office arrest reports:

     

    Aug. 9, Beech, David Lee, of Chiefland, Battery touch or strike. $20,000 bond.

    Aug. 12, Boykin, Brandon Travon, of Archer, no valid license.

    Aug. 11, Boykin William Tay, of Trenton, four counts grand theft less than $5,000, marijuana poss. more than 20 grams, Drug equipment, trespassing. $23,000 bond.

    Aug. 10, Brown, Germain Rommell, of Ocala, sentenced weekender.

  • Levy County Sheriff's Reports 8-9

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Department reports the following arrests:

    July 31, Nadia Behrens, 21, Bronson, out of county warrant.

    Aug. 4, Raymond Crouch, 40, Old Town, driving on permanently revoked DL, license plate not assigned, possession methamphetamine, deliver methamphetamine, possession drug equipment, refuse to accept citation. Bond $96,500.

    Aug. 1, Richard William Deemer, 22, Sarasota, burglary, petit theft, out of county warrant. Bond $30,000.

  • Operation Clean Sweep takes in 18 arrests

    In the early hours of Aug. 2, deputies with the Levy County Drug Task Force along with officers from the Williston Police Department and Chiefland Police Department, concluded a lengthy investigation  by arresting 18 men on assorted drug charges.

    The men, ranging in age from 22-50, were all charged on multiple counts that ran from the sale of cocaine to the sale of methamphetamine.

    July 25, Jonathan Michael Beree, 40, Cedar Key, out of county warrant. Bond $10,000.
    July 26, Christina Danielle Boyd, 31, Gainesville, out of county warrant.
    July 29, Issac Butler, 56, Chiefland, DUI. Bond $5,000.
    July 29, William Edward Carter Jr., 38, Williston. Bond $5,000.
    July 25, Christopher Lynn Coup, 34, Bronson, out of county warrant.
    July 27, Charles Leslie Delaney, 66, Chiefland, battery.

  • Levy County Sheriff's Reports 7-26

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Department reports the following arrests:

    July 18, David Richard Appling, 24, Old Town, two counts FTA, four counts VOP.

    July 20, James Bowen, 45, Inglis, burglary, grand theft. Bond $75,000.

    July 20, Jesse James Crain, 30, Archer, two counts VOP.

    July 20, Roger Lee Daniels, 42, Inglis, possession of drug equipment, attached registration not assigned. Bond $20,500.

    July 17, Steven Wayne Edwards, 20, Inglis, DWLSR. Bond $500.

  • Three sit in jail

    Three men are in the Dade County Jail without bond following  their arrests connected with the July 4 burglary at Lane’s Yardware on East Noble Avenue.

    Alexei Rosbal Peredes of Hialeah, Fimichel Pena Mazo of Hialeah and Firafael Sofia Mustelier of Miami were arrested following an investigation by the Williston Police Department and a team of  officers from the Coral Springs, Hialeah and Opalocka Police Departments.

  • Meth lab bust leads to five arrests

    Apparently five people charged with making “shake and bake” meth in a unit of a second floor duplex in Sumner were so overcome by the fumes of the chemical process they did not  know officers were knocking on their front door. 

    But when the officers could not get the attention of the people inside the unit, the next door neighbor helped out deputies and officers by kicking down the adjoining door between the units, according to Levy County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Scott Tummond.

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

    July 12, James Devon Baker, 46, Morriston, two counts FTA. Bond $2,500.

    July 10, Jose Angel Barrera, 31, Melbourne, VOP. Bond $5,000.

    July 14, James Bowen, 45, Inglis, disorderly intoxication.

    July 10, Jamie Lee Burton, 39, High Springs, three out of county warrants. Bond $15,000.

    July 15, Salvador Jose Cavillo, 33, Brooker, battery. Bond $10,000.

  • Quick draw’s first victim –himself

    A man  who was practicing his “quick draw”  at a friend’s home shot himself in the leg, according to a Levy County Sheriff’s Office press release.
    Deputies said when they responded to a call about a shooting at a home on Northeast 61st Place in Bronson, they found  Robert Bishop,  62, had a single gunshot wound in the back of his right calf.
