  • Levy County Sheriff's Reports 11-17-2011

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

    Nov. 7, Christopher Allen Barron, 28, Chiefland, cocaine possession with intent to sell, possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, two delivery within 1,000 feet of place of worship. Bond $100,000.

    Nov. 13, Chastity Nicole Baxman, 30, Otter Creek, out of county warrant.

    Nov. 13, Tabatha Ann Beals, 24, Old Town, possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, drug equipment. Bond $26,000.

  • McCallum enters sheriff’s race

    Bobby McCallum, a veteran of Levy County law enforcement, announces his candidacy for sheriff, citing the need for positive change, fiscal responsibility and more effective leadership in the Sheriff's Office.

    Nov. 3, Barry Barnett, 62, Dunnellon, disorderly intoxication public place causing disturbance, obstruction w/o violence. Bond $15,000.
    Oct. 31, James Littlehawk, 34, Perry, DWLSR.
    Nov. 1, Lynne Bouchard, 42, battery. Bond $1,500.
    Nov. 2, Leamon Brown, 28, Gainesville, failure to register. Bond $150,000.
    Oct. 31, Robert Lee Buening Jr., 22, Bronson, aggravated battery. Bond $10,000.

  • Williston man charged after pointing gun local resident

    A Williston man was arrested on several charges after a verbal confrontation became something more.

    Dontell Johnson was arrested Oct. 28 following an altercation with a resident of Promise Acres Apartment Complex, according to the Williston Police Department.

    The argument ended,  police said, and Johnson left the property, only to return five minutes later with a high powered rifle. 

    During the second argument, police say,  Johnson raised the rifle and pointed it at the  victim and then fired into the air.

    Oct. 27, Kenneth Eugene Brown, 42, Chiefland, possession four grams to under 30 kilograms. Bond $25,000.
    Oct. 29, Terry Leon Byrd, 49, Immokalee, DWLSR. Bond $1,500.
    Oct. 25, Teagan Carney, 26, Florahome, two out of county warrants. Bond $15,000.

    Oct. 15, Rachael Lynn Gilbert, 38, Gainesville, DUI alcohol or drugs. Bond $5,000.

  • Two charged with theft in check cashing scheme

    Staff Report

    The man who attempted to steal a jar earmarked for charity at the Kangaroo store on Noble Avenue, Williston Oct. 5, is now facing additional charges for co-conspiring with a Williston woman to fraudulently cash checks.

    According to the Williston Police Department, Michael Wayne Aurilio, 28, of Dunnellon and Asia Monique Frazier, 28, of First Avenue, Williston, are facing multiple charges for theft and uttering forged instruments.
