    • Nov. 12, James Blair Bailey Jr., 35, Inglis, out of county warrant.

    • Nov. 11, Kenneth Norman Carleton, 37, Bronson, out of county warrant. Bond $7,513,

    • Nov. 8, Brandon Mark Cody, 30, Williston, exposure of sexual organs, municipal ordinance violation. Bond $5,500.

  • Williston woman dies in head-on crash

    A Williston woman died Monday after the car she was driving was hit head-on by an SUV passing in a no passing zone.

    Michelle M. Anderson, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene by Alachua County Fire Rescue at the collision site at SR 121/SW Wacahoota Road.

    According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Anderson was traveling south in her 2001 Honda Accord when Calvin Lee Adams III, 29, of Crystal River attempted to pass a line of vehicles in a no passing zone.

  • Would-be burglar breaks in with homeowner present

    The Levy County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man who forcibly entered a home at NE 167 Terrace, Williston Sunday morning.

    The sheriff's office reports it was dispatched to the residence around 11: 30 a.m. when the homeowner called in a burglary.

    At the scene, the homeowner was visibly shaken as he told the deputies what had just occurred. 

    According to a press release, the man was working in his backwayrd when he heard a crash from the front of his home.

    • Oct. 27, Joshua Lloyd Beavers, 35, Morriston, assault with deadly weapon. Bond $50,000.

    • Oct. 27, Eric M. Berry, 47, Naples, two counts out of county warrant, non support of children or spouse.

  • Jury finds for Citizen in Andrews’ suit

       A Levy County jury has unanimously decided the Chiefland Citizen did not damage Andy Dennis Andrews’ name, reputation and businesses in a 2007 editorial calling for fair, clean city elections, and a series of stories about a state investigation into 11 voters’ right to vote in Chiefland elections.
