  • School board hopes to boost test scores

    With some bright spots in overall FCAT results, the school district's challenge will be how to spread that success.

    "There are schools that are performing well," said Patrick Wnek, assistant superintendent of curriculum, at Tuesday's Levy County School Board meeting. "Our goal is to find out what they are doing."

    "We know it can happen in all of our schools," he said, noting that some teachers are performing at a high level.

  • Students of the Month honored

    Williston Mayor R. Gerald Hethcoat and the city council honored May students of the month Tuesday night.

    Eighth grader Ryker Gauthier, a student at Williston Central Christian Academy, was nominated by Michele Winningham. He is the son of Leo and Rhonda Gauthier.

    With school starting on Aug. 20, it is critical to register your incoming kindergartener as soon as possible. 
    Children need to be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1.  Please bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate, Social Security card, shot record and a physical that cannot be more than a year old from the Aug. 20 date.

  • WMS teachers selected for Agriscience Leadership Program

    Two Williston Middle School teachers, agricultural teacher Natalie Couey and seventh grade science teacher Elizabeth Horner are among 12 Florida teachers who have been selected for the Florida Agriscience Education Leadership Program.  
    The Agriscience Education Leadership Program is a joint effort between the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and the Florida Department of Education.

  • Holder named FFA Star Finalist

    The Florida FFA Association recently selected twenty-two (22) student members as finalists in the highly coveted “Stars of Florida” award recognition program, among them Michael Holder, (Star Farmer) from Williston High School and Landon Smith and John Robert Trimm Jr.,  (Star Greenhand) from Bronson High School.
