  • Todd Etheridge named to Perkins board

    The shareholders and board of directors of Perkins State Bank announce the appointment of M. Todd Etheridge to the board of directors, effective April 10th.

    Etheridge will assume the seat of Louise Breeden, who retired after 65 years as an employee and board member.

    Etheridge is a life-long resident of Levy County and began his career with Perkins State Bank in 1994 as a teller working his way to his current position of executive vice president.

    He attended the University of West Florida and is a graduate of the Florida School of Banking.

  • Farmers Market update

    This coming Saturday, March 21, the Williston Farmers Market welcomes a great local smoker, George Cockill of “Do Right Cooking”. George will have his cooker on hand starting first thing Saturday morning and will be finishing some great Boston Butts and maybe a few racks of his famous ribs. Plates and sandwiches will be on sale during lunch at the Lions snack stand. George would be pleased to let you sample his variety and have you consider letting him smoke meats for your next family gathering, club activity or fundraising event.

    Pamela Whitney has opened P.D. Whitney Insurance and Services at 123 N.E. 6th Blvd., Williston, next to King Munchie’s. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The phone number is 529-0700.

    She came here in 2004. She has a broad background in insurance and business and received her master’s degree from the University of Phoenix.

    She serves the community with personal or business insurance needs, notary service and faxing.

    The Williston Lions, Harmony Holistic Healing Center and the Levy County Flea Market would like to thank the community and press for their support of our first market. The turnout, especially from the local community, was overwhelming! Thank you all.

  • Chiropractor marks 24th year here

    Dr. Craig Henderson received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree, graduating cum laude in 1978 from Palmer College of Chiropractic which is the largest Chiropractor College in America. Dr. Henderson first practiced in a small coal mining town in western Colorado before moving his practice to Williston, where he has been treating patients for the last 24 years.

    His Office is located at 510 B S.W. 5th Terrace, right behind Nature Coast Hospital.

    For those who live in Levy County and the surrounding area, the big red auction barn located just west of Williston on U.S. Highway 27A is a well known landmark in the area.

    Southern Auction Marketing is a modest local auction house that has strived to be a neighborhood friendly business.

    Lieah Zullo has joined the Williston Pioneer Sun News as account executive. She will be responsible for all sales into the newspaper and Web site. The Florida native is transfering here within Landmark Media from the Gadsden County Times.

    Since 1996 Terri McGinty has been operating her business located in Dr. Henderson’s office just behind Nature Coast Hospital in Williston. In March of this year Terri and her daughter Laci opened Chantilly Place in Bronson, at 150 N. Hathaway Ave.

    Terri has been a licensed massage therapist and full specialist since attending the Tampa SunCoast School of Massage, and is also a licensed full specialist, which involves skin care, waxing, makeup, and nails.
