    Rachael Ammons
    Rachael Valeria Ammons, 70, of Trenton died Sunday, April 1, 2012.
    She moved to Trenton in October of 1999 from Palm Harbor.  She worked for the Florida Council of the Blind in Pinellas County for 13 years as a clerk in the concession store located at the Pinellas County Courthouse.  She was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, Largo Chapter and was a member of the New Beginnings Church.  She enjoyed raising rabbits, flower gardening and attending auctions.

    Leo Castell

    CHIEFLAND–Leo McLeon Castell, 85, of Chiefland died March 22, 2012 at his home. 

    He was born Dec. 20, 1926 in Cedar Key to Charles and Jannie (Robinson) Castell Sr.  He moved to Chiefland in 1959 from Cedar Key.

    He was of Baptist faith and was a member of First Baptist Church of Cedar Key. He served in the Navy and the Army Air Corps and was in the reserves during Vietnam and was a veteran of World War II and Korea.

    Anna M. Hamilton, 81, of Archer/Bronson died March 19, 2012 under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the Tri-Counties.
    She was a long-time member of Archer United Methodist Church.
    Anna was preceded by her husband Homer C. Hamilton, Sr. and son Airman A/1 Homer C. Hamilton Jr., U.S.A.F.

    Rosa Burnett
    Rosa Lee Osteen Burnett, 84, died Sunday, March 4, 2012 at Arbor Trail Rehabilitation Center in Inverness.
    She enjoyed fishing and flower gardening.
    She is survived by her son Lonnie (Cindy) Osteen Jr. of Citrus Springs and a grandchild.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Osteen Sr. and her son, Harold Buddy Osteen.
    Graveside services were held at Butler Cemetery March 11.
    Arrangements were under the care of Rick Gooding Funeral Home, Cross City.

    Laura Brown
    POMONA PARK–Laura Louise Brown, 56, of Pomona Park, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Haven Hospice in Palatka.
    Laura was born in Ocala Oct. 19, 1955. Her parents were William J. Stark and Mildred Gentry Stark of Williston.
    Laura graduated from Williston High School in 1973, attended Central Florida Community College and graduated from Florida State University.
    Laura was married to her loving husband and best friend, Carl David Brown, for 30 years.

    Owen Frederick Baynard 

    Owen Frederick Baynard, 59, of Chiefland died at North Florida Regional Medical Center after a brief illness  Friday, Feb. 17, 2012. 

    He was born in Gainesville, March 13, 1952, the son of the late Walter Lee Baynard Sr. and Eleanor Ruth Knowles Baynard. 

    As a boy, he moved with his family to St. Petersburg, attended Berkley Prep in Tampa, where he was president of his class, editor of the yearbook, played many sports and was one of the first teenage Big Brothers.

    Bret Braswell

    Bret Emery Braswell, 51, of Chiefland, died Feb. 11, 2012 at his home.

    Born in Gainesville, he spent his life in the Chiefland and Cedar Key areas.  He was a fisherman dealing mainly in clams and oysters.  He also enjoyed hunting.

    Tom Bailey

    FANNING SPRINGS–Tom Bailey, 67, of Fanning Springs died after an accident Jan.  31, 2012. 

    He was born Feb. 18, 1944 in Atlanta, Ga. to Ray and Louise Bailey.

     He was of the Baptist faith. He served in the United States Army and then in the National Guard Reserves. He moved to Fanning Springs 20 years ago from Horseshoe Beach.

    Irene Ball
    BRONSON–Irene Ball, 84, of Bronson died Jan. 24, 2012 at Haven Hospice of the Tri Counties in Chiefland.
     Born to Edward and Lula Smith in Williamsburg, Ky., she had been in this area since 1963. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed reading and traveling. She was a teacher for seven years but took pride in being a homemaker.
