     Penny Hunter

    Andrea Penelope “Penny” Hunter, 62, of Old Town died Monday, Aug.20, 2012 at North Florida Regional Hospital.

    She moved to Old Town from Hollywood in 1979.  She was a homemaker, mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking and baking, gardening and general arts and crafts.  She was a former secretary for the Old Town Volunteer Fire Department.

    Winn, N. 'Al' Alfred

    Winn, N. 'Al' Alfred, 88, recently of Gulf Hammock, died peacefully of natural causes at the Veteran's Hospital in Gainesville this week. Al served in the Army in World War II, graduated from the University of Florida with a law degree and practiced law as a sole practitioner in St. Petersburg for many years. 

    He is survived by his children, Peter, Lissa, Minda and Mark; and seven grandchildren.

    Charles Mikell

    Charles Franklin Mikell, 79, of Gainesville died July 31, 2012.

    He was born Aug. 5, 1932 to Lester and Sarah Mikell in Morriston. 

    He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He had lived in Gainesville since 1969 moving from Lake City.

    Max Bush
    Max R. Bush, 76, of Archer died at his home Sunday July 22, 2012.
    He was born Feb.10, 1936 in Datto, Ark. to the late Elvin and Mabel Bush.
    He attended school in Datto, Ark. and joined the U.S. Army in 1954.
    He later became a police officer in St. Louis, Mo. He moved to Gainesville in 1969 where he was a police officer for Gainesville Police Department until 1976. He also attended Santa Fe Community College.

    Debbie Costa

    Deborah Ann Braxton Costa, 54, of Bronson died July 21, 2012.

    She was born Sept. 21, 1957 to Jon and Glenda Braxton in Phoenix, Ariz.

    She graduated from Bronson High School in 1975 and received a business degree from Florida International University. She worked for the Bronson School System for over 15 years. 

    She was an avid reader whose books often overran her room. She enjoyed volunteering.

    Franklin Jackson Boyette Sr.

    Jack Boyette, 69, of Old Town died Thursday, July 12, 2012. 

    He was born to A.J. and Ercho Boyette Aug. 21, 1942 in Trenton.  He was a member of the United Stated Army, serving his country from 1959 to 1962.  He also worked as a heavy equipment operator and a truck driver before working as a sergeant for the Department of Corrections until his retirement.

    Ed Grieves Jr.

    Edgar ‘Ed’ Grieves Jr., 75, of Trenton died July 3, 2012 at Haven Hospice of the Tri Counties in Chiefland. 

    He was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. to Edgar L. and Erma (Whiting) Grieves Sr. He served his country in the U.S. Army.  He spent about 50 years upholstering furniture, training his son and passing the business onto him.  He enjoyed cars, collecting coins, going to flea markets and eBay.

    Jacob Bolden
    Jacob Henry “Jake” Bolden, 88,  of Old Town died June 30, 2012 at Haven Hospice of the Tri-Counties in Chiefland.
    He was a retired auto worker, who enjoyed fishing, watching baseball, especially the Cardinals. He was a member of the Suwannee River Baptist Church of Old Town, Florida. He served his county well during WWII in the U.S. Army.

    Peter C. Garofalo, 92, died June 4, 2012 at  the VA Hospital in Gainesville.
    He is survived  by his wife, Clara; daughter,Vickie Garner and son, Anthony of Orlando.
    He was an avid golfer.

    Theresa Barbara Crossley Hardee, 72, died June 16, 2012.
    She was born June 2, 1940 in Green Cove Springs.
