    Walk for Life
    The 12th Annual Walk For Life will be held  Saturday, Oct. 15.  Registration is at 8:30 a.m. and the Walk will begin at 9 a.m. 
     This year  a free breakfast is included for  all pre-registered walkers.  For those that cannot join the walk, sponsoring a walker is a great way to show your support of life.

    Schools Foundation Beast Feast
    The Levy County Schools Foundation will be hosting its 2nd Annual Beast Feast Oct. 8 at the Black Prong Equestrian Center on CR 337, Bronson. 
    Dinner will begin being served at 5:30 p.m.  An interesting selection of specialties like gator tail, possum ribs, and venison along with some good old fashioned southern classics like mullet, grits, and swamp cabbage will be served.

    Benefit Poker Run
    AMVETS Post 444 will host a Benefit Poker Run Saturday, Oct. 1 for Justin Fairbanks.
    Register at the post at 10 a.m. and kickstands go up at 11 a.m.
    The route includes stops at Sunray’s, Willards, McKenzie’s 4 Corners, AMVETS Post 422 Chiefland, AMVETS Post 88 Bronson and ends back at Post 444. Cost is $10 per hand at registration.
    There will be a 50/50 drawing and raffles throughout the day.

  • Toni Collins isn’t shy about her beliefs, especially when it comes to history.

    “I’ve always been distressed that our young people are not learning about the history of this county,” she said Friday from the living room of her Chiefland home.

    Collins, who used to work for the county, was largely responsible for organizing the county’s historical archives and started the county’s historical board.

    The Levy County Tourist Development Council will have its bi-monthly meeting Thursday, Sept. 22 at 6 p.m. at the  Levy County Visitors Bureau, 620 N. Hathaway Ave., Bronson.

    Ornan Lodge will hold its annual Child Safety Day Saturday, Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the lodge.

    JBES Yard Sale

    AARP Chapter #912 is sponsoring a Flu Shot Clinic Saturday, Sept. 10, from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the Williston City Hall Community Center.

    AMVETS Karaoke
    AmVets Post 88, east of the Bronson Racetrack on SR 24, Bronson,  will hold its Fourth Annual Karaoke Contest benefitting the Fisher House, Gainesville.
      The contest will take place  Sunday, Sept. 4 at 6 p.m.  All contestants need to be there early to register and pick out their songs.  There will be a minimal entry fee of $5.
