    Yard Sale
    Holy Family  will hold its monthly yard sale Feb. 4 from 8 a.m. -1 p.m.  
    Space rental is $5 each for table, space or tent.  You can bring your own table/tent. Vendors are welcome.

    Angel House Thrift Store at Holy Family Catholic Church, located three miles north of Williston on Hwy 27A is open Friday and Saturday from 9 am until 1 p.m. every weekend.

    Black History Celebration
    The Sircle Inc. will present the 10th annual Black History Month Celebration Friday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m.
     The banquet will be at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Ocala Conference Center located at 3600 SW 38th Avenue Ocala.
    The keynote speaker will be educator, author and B-school professor Dr. Dennis Kimbro. Music will be provided by The ADF Jazz Trio, promoted by Mary O’Banyoun-Abdullah.

  • Santa was no doubt good to Billy E. Butler IV, who was born June 3, 2011 and celebrated his first Christmas this past weekend. He is the son of Billy and Hannah Butler, great-great-grandson of Flossie Butler; great-grandson of Billy and Marlene Butler; great-grandson of Marguerite Collins; grandson of Billy and Annette Butler; grandson of Joey and Eve Pallone and Mark and Jane Willgons.

  • While others are still trying to wake up, cook their breakfast and get their children dressed, Bo Dallas is already at the church with a song not only on his heart, but also his lips as he prepares for another day of worship.
    While that’s not too extraordinary for most people, what is unusual is that Dallas had prepared his own breakfast and gotten to Allen Chapel AME Church on his trusty scooter. That’s pretty good for someone who turned 105 years old Sept. 2.

  • Trained Dog Happy Dog agility and training facility held their annual Howl-o-ween for dogs celebration on Saturday Oct. 22. Many dogs brought their owners to the celebration where they each took their turn at the “LURE” course to record their best run. There was also a Costume Contest for all the dogs.

    The Great Dane named Celeste, owned by Kathy Anaya ran the Lure Course is a blazing 11.82  seconds.

    Cattlemen’s Association
    The Levy County Cattlemen’s Association will have its fall meeting Thursday, Oct. 20 at the Whitehurst Lodge beginning at 7 p.m.
    Anyone interested in joining is encouraged to attend.

    Walk for Life
    The 12th Annual Walk For Life will be held  Saturday, Oct. 15.  Registration is at 8:30 a.m. and the Walk will begin at 9 a.m. 
     This year  a free breakfast is included for  all pre-registered walkers.  For those that cannot join the walk, sponsoring a walker is a great way to show your support of life.

    Schools Foundation Beast Feast
    The Levy County Schools Foundation will be hosting its 2nd Annual Beast Feast Oct. 8 at the Black Prong Equestrian Center on CR 337, Bronson. 
    Dinner will begin being served at 5:30 p.m.  An interesting selection of specialties like gator tail, possum ribs, and venison along with some good old fashioned southern classics like mullet, grits, and swamp cabbage will be served. 

  • Saturday, Oct. 1

    Benefit Poker Run
    AMVETS Post 444 will host a Benefit Poker Run Saturday, Oct. 1 for Justin Fairbanks.
    Register at the post at 10 a.m. and kickstands go up at 11 a.m.
    The route includes stops at Sunray’s, Willards, McKenzie’s 4 Corners, AMVETS Post 422 Chiefland, AMVETS Post 88 Bronson and ends back at Post 444. Cost is $10 per hand at registration.
    There will be a 50/50 drawing and raffles throughout the day.
