  • James and Betty Dean of Williston will celebrate their 72nd wedding anniversary on Sunday, Aug. 28. 

     The couple was married in Ft. Lauderdale on Aug. 28, 1944 and moved from Miami to Williston in 1959.

    Mr. Dean retired from the trucking business in 1987.  Mrs. Dean is a homemaker.  

    The couple has one son, Mike Dean, and his wife, Wanda, of Thaxton, Miss. and one daughter, Cindy Tribby, and her husband, Brian, of Gainesville.  

  •  Erin MacDonald and Jason Stewart were united in marriage Saturday, June 18  at five o'clock in the afternoon at the Hockley Valley Resort in Ontario, Canada. The bride is the daughter of Lori MacDonald of Ontario, Canada and the late Eric MacDonald.

    The bloodmobile will be at First Baptist Church Williston on Sunday, Aug. 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  Please come give the gift of life.


    Baseball Tryouts

    The Orlando Scorpions youth travel baseball program is holding fall tryouts for ages 9 through 12 on Tuesday Aug. 23, 6 to 8 p.m., at Diamond Sports Parks in Archer. The tryout fee is $30.

    The 15th Annual Williston GospelFest will take place Saturday, Aug. 13 beginning at 4 p.m. at Unity Temple International Fellowship, 2351 NE 200th Ave., Williston.

    Scheduled to perform are William Lavant, Derrian Brown, Danny Nunn, Nu Testament, The New Day Band, Lionel Walker and more.

    Food and vendors will be onsite.

    No admission, but a love offering will be received.

    Nature Coast Rehabilitation will celebrate 25 years Thursday, July 21 (today) with an anniversary party at their South Main Street location from 5-7 p.m.

    Meet owner Beth Hicks and her staff  and wish them another 25 years.

  •  Allison and Jeremy Owens of Royston, Ga. announce the birth of their first child, a daughter, Piper Rae, born at 1:45 p.m. June 27, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens, Ga.

    The baby weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces and was 19.5 inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Carolyn (Tom) Ten Broeck of Williston and Bill Risner of Canon, Ga.

    Paternal grandparents are the late Jerry and Diane Owens of Elberton, Ga.

    Childbirth/Parenting Classes

    Tri-County Pregnancy will host Healthy Start Childbirth, Breastfeeding and Parenting Education Classes for women who are at least 27 weeks pregnant.  

    Classes will be held at 426 West Noble Ave., Williston, from 1- 4 p.m. for each class.
