Today's Features

  •  Mr. and Mrs. James G. Dean celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary Aug. 28. 

    The couple was married in Ft. Lauderdale Aug. 28, 1944 after James, a member of the U. S. Marine Corps, returned from the South Pacific, where he participated in the invasions of Guadalcanal and New Guinea.

    After the end of WWII, the couple resided in Miami until 1959, when they moved to Williston.  He spent his early years in Levy County and the return brought them closer to family.

    In celebrating my recent birthday, I found myself caught up in a case of nostalgia. I never imagined I would really get this old. Not that I am old, mind you, but I have reached the point in life I never thought I would when I was younger. Had I known I would get this old, I would have saved some of the energy I wasted during my teenage years.

    How was I to know that as you got older your supply of energy began diminishing?

  • Bill Risner of Canon, Ga. and Carolyn Ten Broeck of Williston announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Virginia Allison Risner of Royston, Ga. to Jeremy Loyd Owens of Elberton, Ga., son of the late Jerry and Diane Owens of Elberton.

  •  Chetley and Nellie Breeden announce the birth of their daughter, Rosalie Rae Breeden born Dec. 26, 2013 at 9:01 p.m. and weighed 4 lb., 14 oz. 

    Maternal grandparents are Jimmy and Martha Gladwell of Williston. Paternal grandparents are Jim and Leisa Breeden of Williston. 

    Maternal great-grandparents include George and Mildred Adams of Williston, Billie Gladwell of Starke and Bill Cauley of Jacksonville. Paternal great-grandmother is Louise Breeden of Williston.

  •  Clara Beth Buchyn, daughter of Phillip Gordon and Mallory Beth Buchyn of Williston, was born Dec. 24, 2013 at the Birth and Wellness Center of Gainesville.
