For the last week, I have been chief cook and bottle washer in the house while the Gracious Mistress of the Parsonage was visiting our son and his family in Ohio. I like nothing better than being in charge. Of course, I wonder what in the world I am in charge of when I am the only one in the house.
For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father our Lord Jesus Christ, of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named. . . So begins St. Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians church (Eph. 3:14-21), which I have selected as my prayer for the readers of this article and any who might follow for as long as the Lord and the editor are willing.
As a native of this area, I understand most of the pressures and circumstances of the people here and realize the difficulty of life in these times.
Jesus and politics! Christian and politics! It has been said that these do not mix. It would be safe for me to say that Jesus is surely above politics. However, the question is, “Would He have His followers be involved in the political process?” On the one hand, we should not put our eternal trust in worldly leaders. On the other hand, Christians must be involved in the political process. Any way you look at it, Jesus and politics are a hot topic.
Under clear skies with a gentle breeze wafting through the city, residents of Williston came together last week to pray for their town, state, country, leaders–and themselves.
Attended by more than 50 people, Williston’s local participation in the National Day of Prayer drew ministers, housewives, law enforcement officers and elected officials–people who believe in the power of prayer.
1 Peter 2:11-17
The Bible talks about our duties as citizens. In fact, every Christian has dual citizenship. The word conduct that is used in 1 Peter 2:11-17 and several times in Philippians denotes our behavior, citizenship, and conduct in the world.
*Philippians 3:20 says that our citizenship is in heaven.
* 1 Peter 1:15-16 says that our conduct is to be holy.

“And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are written in this book: but these are written that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ The Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through HIs name. (John 20:30-31)
