    Yard Sale

    Ode de Joy, a non-profit group will hold a yard sale at the Williston Lions Club Friday, Nov. 6 and Saturday, Nov. 7 from 8 a.m. until 2 pm.

    Saturday, Nov. 7

    Pistol Class is Fund-raiser

    A basic pistol class will be held Nov. 7 in the Levy County Sheriff’s Office classroom, 9150 NE 80th Ave Bronson.

    The class, hosted by the sheriff’s office, will qualify participants for a Florida concealed weapons permit.

    FFA Barbecue

    Williston High School FFA Chapter will host a barbecue pork dinner Friday, Oct. 30 from 5-7 p.m. before the Red Devil homecoming football game.

    Tickets, which are $8, are available either pre-sale from an FFA member or at the dinner in the high school cafeteria.

    NAACP Banquet

    The 19th annual banquet of the local NAACP chapter will be held at Usher Center in Chiefland at 7 p.m. Oct. 24. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children. Checks should be made payable to the NAACP and may be sent to P.O. Box 636, Williston, Florida 32696.

    Free Concert at Library

    On Thursday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m. the Friends of the Williston Public Library will celebrate “Hispanic Heritage Month.”

    The Latin Band “Tropix” will perform, featuring band leader Gilberto DePaz.

    Originally from Puerto Rico, DePaz has resided in Gainesville for over 30 years. He has been in the music profession for 45 years. He is an accomplished performer and is locally, nationally and internationally popular. The program is free.

    Chamber Business After Hours

    The Williston Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Business After Hours event at Palms Medical Center (formerly known as Trenton Medical Center) from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8. Refreshments will be served and the public is invited to meet the Center’s CFO Anita Riels, the medical director Bruce Thomas, MD, and the staff .     Saturday, Sept. 26

    River Cleanup

    Manatee State Park, the Friends of Manatee Springs and Suwannee Guides are celebrating National Public Lands Cleanup Saturday, Sept. 26 beginning at 9 a.m. at Clay Landing.

    Bring your own boat, or for the first 15 reservations, Suwannee Guides will provide canoes at no charge. The group will also shuttle participants from Manatee Springs to Clay Landing.

    The first 50 to register will have a free lunch provided by the Friends of Manatee Springs.

  • Bronson Chamber to hold yard sale

    The Bronson Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a yard and pumpkin sale Saturday, Oct. 17 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Main Avenue and the Grass Triangle in Bronson as a fund-raiser for its Pumpkin Fest. Oct. 31.

    Individual sellers may also set up a 10’x10’ space the day of the sale for $10.

    Breast Cancer Fund-raiser

    The Second Annual Bunco Babes Ocala -Breast Friends - Shak’n Dice 4 a Cure Tournament Fund-raiser Against Breast Cancer will be held Jan. 8, 2010.

    The doors open at 6 p.m. and gaming begins sharply at 7 p.m.

    The event will take place at the Ocala Hilton, 3600 Southwest 36th Ave. in Ocala.

    Tickets are $30 and include playing Bunco and hors d’oeuvres. A cash bar will be available.

    There will be a meeting on Monday, Sept. 21 at 6 p.m. at the Williston School of Dance for the annual Miss Williston pageants. Little Miss is for girls ages 4-6, Junior Miss is for girls ages 11-13 and Miss is for girls ages 15-18.
