    Land Judging Event

    The Tri County Land Judging Event for all FFA and 4-H members will be Feb. 26.

    This contest is restricted to members of FFA or a 4-H club. The host this year is Levy County. The youth will meet behind the IFAS office in Bronson on Hwy 27-A.

     ‘Cruzin’ for Kidz”

    The Williston Elementary School Safety Patrols are hosting the Second Annual “Cruzin’ for Kidz” motorcycle ride on Saturday, Feb. 20 beginning at Williston Elementary School, 801 S. Main St. Registration 8:30-9:45; kickstands up at 10. Ride for free—Donations accepted. Lunch will be available for purchase upon the riders’ return to WES. For info: wescruzinforkidz@yahoo.com or 352-528-6030. Proceeds will go toward the kids’ trip to Washington in June.

    Friday, Feb. 12

    St John the Evangelist Church in Williston will hold a Southern Fish Fry Feb. 12 from 5-7 p.m . a the church on Hwy. 27, Chiefland.

    Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children under 7 years old and are available at the door.

    The mean consists of fish, french fries, cole slaw, hush puppies, grits, baked beans, dessert, coffee and tea.

    The Levy County Genealogy and History Society will meet Sunday, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. at the Levy County Quilt Museum.

    Saturday, Feb. 6

    Williston FOLee^Book Sale

    The next “Friends” Book Fair will be held Saturday, Feb. 6 from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m in the Williston City Hall Community Center.

    Volunteers are asked to help begin sorting books Thursday night at 6 p.m. and continue Friday morning at 9 a.m.

    Helpers are also needed for the sale itself on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Call Mary Mcdaniell, 528-5972 if you can help at any of the times above.

    Sunday, Jan. 31

     Woman’s Club Luncheon

    The Williston Woman’s Club is holding a Soup/Chili Dinner Sunday, Jan. 31 at the clubhouse located on Highway 121 North. A variety of homemade soups and chili, plus salad and cornbread as well as an assortment of homemade desserts will be on the menu. 

    Cost for the meal is $7.50 for adults, $5 for those under 10 and no cost for children under three.

      The doors will be open from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. All proceeds will benefit club projects.

    Williston FOL

    Friends of the Williston Public Library will host Henry Sheldon, Gainesville story teller, Thursday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. in the library.

    Sheldon is well known in Alachua and surrounding counties for his programs. He is also a very generous entertainer, as he has asked that his honorarium be given to the Levy County Library System to be used for programs in the Levy County libraries.

    Congressman Talks

    A representative from Sen. Bill Nelson’s office will be at Williston City Hall from 4-5 p.m. today, Thursday, Jan. 14.

    Saturday, Jan. 16

    Cheerleading Camp

    There will be a WHS Cheerleader mini camp Saturday, Jan. 16 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. for all girls ages 4 and older .  This is a fun day for all girls to spend with the WHS Cheerleaders learning basketball cheers, chants, dances and stunts.  Each child will receive a t-shirt, snacks and lunch.

    Blood Drive

    Williston Community invites residents to do their part to ensure a safe and adequate blood supply for the community when they team up with LifeSouth Community Blood Centers to host a blood drive Friday, Jan. 8 and Saturday, Jan. 9.

    Stop by the bloodmobile at City Hall between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. and make a contribution that can save up to three lives in local hospitals.

    Judge Smith Reception

    Judge Joseph E. Smith will be honored with a reception Thursday, Dec. 10 from 4:30-7 p.m. at Bronson Elementary School Cafeteria, Ishie Ave., Bronson.

    Remarks will be made at 5:30 p.m.

    Smith is retiring after more than 16 years on the bench.

    The Williston Area Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for this year’s Light Up Williston parade.

    5K Cancer Awareness Race/Walk

    The Chiefland Woman’s Club will host its Second Annual 5K Cancer Awareness Race/Walk Saturday, Dec. 5 at the Trailhead Park in Chiefland. 

    The race/walk will be the opening activity for the Chiefland Chamber Christmas Festival.  The entry fee for the race/walk is $20 and proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
