    Monday, Feb. 14

    AARP
    AARP Chapter #912 meets the second Monday each month at 9:30 a.m. in the Holy Family Catholic Church Hall.  At the meeting on Monday, Feb. 14, members will bring unwrapped baby items to contribute to the Tri-County Pregnancy Center.  Vistors are welcome.  All AARP national members in the area are encouraged to  join the chapter.

    Dudley Farm
    Dudley Farm Old-Fashioned Plow Days will showcase agricultural practices before the tractor and mechanization as highly skilled draft horse and mule teams plow the crop fields in preparation for spring planting Friday, Feb. 4 and Saturday, Feb. 6 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
    There will be traditional skills demonstrations, wagon rides and music. Come look at these big beautiful and powerful creatures and the hard work we once depended upon them for.

    Soup-A-Thon
    Calling all soup makers: reserve your spot today to try for the title of Best Soup Chef in the area.  The Yankeetown-Inglis Woman’s Club Soup-A-Thon will be Saturday, Jan. 15 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.  Bring your favorite soup and join your neighbors at #5  56th St., Yankeetown to try them all and vote for the best.  All you can eat for $5.  Cash prizes will be awarded for the top three tastiest soups: 1st place $50, 2nd place $25 and 3rd place $10.

    Jazz Concert

    The Gainesville Friends of Jazz will present “An Evening of Latin Jazz” featuring pianist Chuchito Valdes Tuesday, Nov. 30 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship located at 4225 NW 34th Street in Gainesville.
    Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert begins at 7:30 p.m. The fee is $20 general admission, $15 GFOJ members and $10 Students.

  • Decorate a pizza box and win

    Angelina Mia’s Restaurant in Williston is offering a “Painted Pizza Box Contest” in conjunction with the Levy County Fair.
    Every month there will be a total of 30 boxes available to be picked up at the restaurant on West Noble Avenue.
     Paint the box any way you like and bring it back by the end of the month.  Boxes will be judged monthly and the top three winners from each month will receive a free large pizza.

    Love and Remembrance Memorial
    The Haven Hospice Love and Remembrance Memorial is open to anyone in the community who has lost a loved one. Attendees are encouraged to bring pictures and mementos of loved ones that can be placed on our Table of Memories. Refreshments will be served. Registration is not required.
    The memorial will be held Thursday, Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. at Haven Hospice Tri-Counties Care Center, 311 N.E. 9th St., Chiefland. Call Haven Hospice at 352-493-2333 for more information.

  • SVP presents Haunted Theater

    Suwannee Valley Players will present its 2nd annual Haunted Theater.   The theme for this year’s event is All Things Scary; each room has been designed to bring the spectator a different thrill.  

    There are monsters, vampires, spiders, clowns, zombies…well, you get the idea.  If it is scary, it is at the Chief Theater.
