    Political Rally

    A political rally will be held from noon until 8 p.m. at the Bronson Youth League Park for candidates in the Sept. 8 Bronson Town Council elections.

    Three seats are up in the election. Candidates will have an opportunity to make speeches, answer questions from members of the Bronson Chamber of Commerce and meet voters and answer their questions.

    Stuff the Bus

    Take advantage of back-to-school specials now and buy school supplies to help the Levy Schools Foundation Stuff the Bus on Aug. 15.

    All supplies collected will be distributed among the county’s teachers for use by Levy County students.

    In Williston, a bus will be at Hitchcock’s Foodway from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. and in Bronson it will be at the Buy N Save Grocery.

    Cash donations are welcomed and will be used to buy supplies in bulk.

    Back-to-School Rally

    WE SOAR, Inc., will host the 15th Annual Back-to-School Rally on Saturday, Aug. 8 at 4 p.m. at the Allen Chapel AME Church located at 48 NE 9th Street, Williston.

    A rally program will feature the WE SOAR Step/Mime team and other youth performing arts groups. There will be free school supply packs (assembled by appropriate grade-level), door prizes and refreshments.

    Holy Family Fish Fry

    The Ladies Guild and Fellowship Ministry of Holy Family Catholic Church will hold a Fish Fry Friday, July 10 at 5 p.m.

    Adult meals are $7 and children’s are $4. Take out is available.

    Benefits from the fund-raiser help meet the financial needs of people within the community.

    Door prizes will also be given away.

    Wild Adventures Trip

    Destiny Church of God by Faith is planning a trip to Wild Adventures in Valdosta, Ga. on Saturday, Aug. 8.

    Bluegrass Pickin’

    The Suwannee Valley Bluegrass Pickin’ takes place at Otter Springs RV Resort, Saturday Aug. 1.

    Bring your homemade favorite dessert to share as you listen to some of the best bluegrass groups from Florida. The music will start at 6 p.m. in the Big Cypress Lodge and the music will go on until everyone goes home.

    This event will be free to the public but we would appreciate a donation to help out on the groups’ travel expenses.

    A spaghetti dinner will be held Friday, July 24 beginning at 6 p.m. at the clubhouse.

    For $6, diners will get spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert and a drink.

    You may eat-in or carryout.

    Would your canine friends like a swimming lesson, or an opportunity to run a lure course? Do you just want someone else to wash your dog for a change?

    Woodturners

    Bell WoodTurners, a registered Florida not-for-profit organization, is having its 8th Annual Woodturning Demo/Sale Day on July 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bell Community Center in Bell.

    All attendees will receive a free, hand turned weed pot (for dried flower arrangements) that are made by chapter members. The Bell Community Center is on Highway 129 in the center of Bell.

    Tourist Council

    The Levy County Tourist Development Council will meet to review grant program applications on Thursday, June 25 at 6 p.m. at the Levy County Agricultural Office Building, 620 N Hathaway Ave., Bronson.

    The meeting is open to the public.

    WAG Annual Meeting

    The Williston Animal group (WAG) will hold its annual membership meeting and election of officers and directors on Saturday, June 27 at 9:30 a.m. in the Williston Fire Hall. Changes to the bylaws will be discussed and voted on.

    AARPee^Summer Activities

    AARP Chapter 912 announces its “just for fun” summer schedule. They will have a booth at Williston’s Independence Day Celebration at Horseman’s Park, Friday, July 3. There will be two raffles-one for a set of ladies’ golf clubs with bag and one for ladies’ size 7 golf shoes. Raffle tickets are $1/each or $5/6 and may be purchased at our booth or from Mignon Craig, 528-3323. The drawing will be on Sunday, July 5 and the winners will be notified by phone.
