  • Wendells celebrate 60th anniversary

    Ronald and Donna Wendell will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary  Sunday, May 27 at noon in the fellowship hall of the First United Methodist Church. The potluck luncheon is hosted by their children, grandchildren and great-grandson.
    Friends of the couple are invited to attend.

    Donna Marie Gleasman and Ronald Borden Wendell were married May 17, 1952 in New Hartford, N.Y.

  • Baby's First Christmas

    Santa was no doubt good to Billy E. Butler IV, who was born June 3, 2011 and celebrated his first Christmas this past weekend. He is the son of Billy and Hannah Butler, great-great-grandson of Flossie Butler; great-grandson of Billy and Marlene Butler; great-grandson of Marguerite Collins; grandson of Billy and Annette Butler; grandson of Joey and Eve Pallone and Mark and Jane Willgons.

  • Local hounds dress up for Halloween at celebration

    Trained Dog Happy Dog agility and training facility held their annual Howl-o-ween for dogs celebration on Saturday Oct. 22. Many dogs brought their owners to the celebration where they each took their turn at the “LURE” course to record their best run. There was also a Costume Contest for all the dogs.

    The Great Dane named Celeste, owned by Kathy Anaya ran the Lure Course is a blazing 11.82  seconds.

  • Miss Harris, Mr. Anderson plan October wedding

    Chuck and Ninta Harris of Williston announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Jade Harris of Morriston, to Daniel Anderson, of Morriston, son of Brian and Candy Anderson of Morriston.
    The bride-elect has her associate’s degree in interior design. The future groom has his associate’s degree in business administration and is currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree.
    The couple will marry Oct. 8 at the Kanapaha Botanical Gardens.

  • Miss Martinez, Mr. Feagle plan July nuptials

    Miss Raina Lynn Martinez and Mr. Ryan Michael Feagle  announce their engagement and upcoming wedding.
    The future bride is the daughter of Arthur “Mario” Martinez of Williston and the late Jodie Martinez.
    She is also the granddaughter of Arthur and Linda Martinez of Lake City, Sharon Stone of Williston and David Stone of Yankeetown.
    The bride-elect is a 2007 graduate of Williston High School and a 2010 graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology.

  • Gladwell, Breeden to exchange autumn vows

    Mr. and Mrs. James L. Gladwell III of Williston, announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Nellie Marie Gladwell, to Mr. Chetley Lowell Breeden, son of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Breeden Jr., also of Williston.
    Miss Gladwell graduated from Williston High School in 2007 and the University of Florida in 2010 with a degree in Food and Resource Economics. She is presently employed by the Levy County School Board as a teacher at Williston High School.

  • Hanson, Estevez to exchange vows

    Ms. Tracy Whitaker of Bonifay and Mr. and Mrs. Durwin D. Hanson of St. Johns announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Mindy Nichole Hanson to Brian Joseph Estevez, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Estevez of Archer.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Atrice and the late Travis Turner of Bonifay and Fred and Virginia Perkins and the late Durwin Hanson of Wausau.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Louis Bouten to celebrate 50th anniversary

    Louis and Lynne Bouten met on a blind date in St. Albans Naval Base where they both served.
    They were married Feb. 25, 1961.
    They have 11 childern, 28 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren
    Louis retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years and then worked 20 years with the state of Florida as a health provider to imates in Lowell.
    Lynne is a nurse for 40 years and works for Head Start.

  • Pie Lady celebrates 80th birthday

    June Burks of Williston, formerly of Cotton Valley, La., celebrated her 80th birthday Sunday, Jan. 23, with party at her home hosted by her children.
    Many people know Ms. June from the scrumptious homemade pies that she has prepared in past years. Party attendees enjoyed a desserts-only menu, sampling from tables filled with cakes, pies, cobblers and puddings...many of them made by the honoree!
     Over 70 friends and family members came to celebrate her throughout the afternoon.

  • Kunkles celebrate 50th anniversary

    Shirley and Charles Kunkle celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Jan. 3.
    The couple met when he was 15 and she was 12.
    Mr. Kunkle served as a Marine in Vietnam. When he came home he joined the Philadelphia Fire Department, where he served for 26 years.
    The couple moved to Florida in 1997. Mrs. Kunkle was employed at Winn-Dixie for 13 years.
