Williston man charged after pointing gun local resident

Released from prison five months ago

A Williston man was arrested on several charges after a verbal confrontation became something more.

Dontell Johnson was arrested Oct. 28 following an altercation with a resident of Promise Acres Apartment Complex, according to the Williston Police Department.

The argument ended,  police said, and Johnson left the property, only to return five minutes later with a high powered rifle. 

During the second argument, police say,  Johnson raised the rifle and pointed it at the  victim and then fired into the air.

Johnson then fled on foot and was later found at an address outside the city.

Williston Police Officers Tegart and Ramirez were assisted by county deputies in making the arrest.

 Johnson, who was released from prison about five months ago, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon times six and resisting arrest without violence.
