Patriotism rang loudly Monday night when more than 200 people attended the annual Veterans Day Ceremony was held in Williston’s Heritage Park.
WWII veteran Dogan Cobb, who delivered the invocation, said Nov. 11 was a fitting time to pause and thank those who served in this country’s military.
He also said the families of these men and women are to be commended for their support and the nation should be thankful to them as well.
City Councilors Matt Brooks and Charles Goodman read proclamations from President Barack Obama and Gov. Rick Scott.
Music came from the Williston High School Band, Billy Pogue and those gathered who sang, “God Bless America.”
More than 1. 6 million veterans reside in Florida and ceremonies across the state marked their service Monday.
