Williston is on the grow

The rumor you’ve heard is true: Williston is getting a Pizza Hut.

City Manager Scott Lippmann said last week that plans for a 56-seat Pizza Hut on Noble Avenue are well underway and the restaurant is tentatively scheduled to open Dec. 23.

The new restaurant will be the second business to locate in Williston in as many months.

Sky Chiefs Aviation, a flight training school, is now located at the airport.

But a Wal-Mart coming to town is still an unknown, Lippmann said.

The city manager  said that no one from the corporation has contacted the city–even about the possibility of locating in the current high school location once a new school is built.

Lippmann did say a private landowner has been talking with Walmart about the possibility of locating outside the city limits.

Much of what happens in the business community will hinge on the outcome of the feasibilty study the city has contracted to do to recruit a hotel to the city.

That study began in earnest last week and should be complete by late January, Lippmann said.

The study will evaluate the need for a hotel based on several factors including tourism and business needs.

If the study concludes that Williston can support a hotel, the door will be open for a lot of potential growth, Lippmann said.
