On Thursday, Aug. 18, WHS will be having an Open House from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This will be a chance for students and parents to meet both new and returning staff members and visit classrooms.
A few changes this year include dress code rules, food and drink rules, and some changes in the attendance policy. Students will find a more controlled campus with more student accountability. All students will be given a Student Planner/Agenda to assist with organization.
Although many items will be explained to students in grade level meetings, please keep in mind that the WHS dress code does not allow tank tops and shoulders must be covered. Students may not wear tops that have large arm openings and underclothing may not be exposed. All slacks must be worn at the natural waistline. All dress code rules will be strictly enforced.
Additionally, students will not be allowed to bring their breakfast food and drink items (i.e., McDonald’s and Hardee’s etc.) into the building, but lunch items and sealed drinks stored in backpacks brought for lunches will be acceptable. No food or drink (outside of approved water bottles) will be allowed in any classroom, computer room or the gymnasium. Those wishing to eat breakfast will be allowed to take breakfast items into the cafeteria prior to the start of the school day.
As per Board policy, students who are more than 10 minutes late for a class, or those checking out more than 10 minutes prior to the end of a class, will be considered absent for that class.
