Cross Brand Cowboy Church held its First Kids Ranch Rodeo Series on June 6 at the Williston Horseman’s Park.

There were 38 contestants ages 12 and under.

The events included Clover Leaf Barrels, Goat Roping Flipping and Branding, Mutton Bustin, Goat Tying, Calf Roping, Flipping and Branding and Shoot Doggin. The age groups were 8-12-year olds and 7 and under.

The series will be the first Saturday of every month June through September. At the end of the series, buckles will be awarded to the first place winners in each event and trophies and other prizes will be awarded through third place in each event.

There will also be a buckle awarded to the Top Hand Cowboy and Cowgirl in each age division. You must compete in three of the four rodeos to qualify for awards. All kids are welcome to come and be a part of this exciting event. In three of the events, horses are not required. If you have never been in a rodeo, this is a great opportunity for you to learn. If you have grown up competing in rodeos, there are some great cowboys and cowgirls to compete against. The next rodeo will be July 4. Books are open at 8 a.m. and close at 8:50 a.m. The rodeo will promptly start at 9 a.m. Official Rodeo Dress is required to participate.

For more information call Pastor Billy Keith at (352)221-4946. Church services are held every Thursday night at 7 at the Williston Horseman’s Park and every Sunday after the rodeo at 10 a.m.
