The Levy County Commission has unanimously approved a proclamation naming the week of Nov. 10-16 as Veterans Appreciation Week and agreed to participate in the countywide Veterans Day Parade being hosted by the City of Cedar Key.
Veterans Representative Ivan Chubb informed the commission at its Oct. 22 meeting that the parade is being organized by Cedar Key Police Chief Virgil Sandlin with Cedar Key Fire Chief Robert Robinson and will be Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. with lineup at 10 a.m. at G and Second Streets.
The parade will start at First and G Street, proceeding along First Street, turn onto Dock Street and continue winding around to Second Street then terminating at Second and F Street.
Those with trailers are asked to park at the ball field behind Cedar Key School.
Those participating must call 352-543-5131 for Lisa or Tracy to register for the parade.
Later that evening, the city of Williston will hold its annual Veterans Day Commemoration Monday, Nov. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the pavilion in Heritage Park.
Music, special speakers and a salute to veterans from all branches of military service will highlight the ceremony.
