Fair group

elects officers

The Levy County Fair Association held elections at their annual meeting on February 26th and are pleased to announce the following results: President, Debra Jones of Williston, 1st Vice President, Tommy Dunford of Bronson, Secretary, Sylvia Schenk of Bronson, and Treasurer, Eileen DeCora of Williston. They join Norma Myers of Bronson, who is the 2nd Vice President.

The Fair Association is now solvent and is moving forward with planning for this year’s event. The dates for the 2009 Fair will be finalized in the very near future. Anyone interested in joining us is cordially invited to our next meeting this Thursday, March 5, 6:30 p.m., at the Cornerstone Assembly of God on Hwy 121 north of Williston.

First Saturday

book sale set

Friends of the Williston Public Library will hold the First Saturday Book Fair on March 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the City Hall Community Center.

Books are plentiful and many are in new condition. The donations listed are very low: $1 for any hardback, 50 cents for softbacks and 25 cents for paperbacks. Childrens books and magazines are only 10 cents. Tapes and CDs are also available depending upon donations for $1.

Come early for the best selection.

Yard sale set

at Joyce Bullock

The Joyce Bullock Elementary Relay for Life team will be holding a flea-market style garage sale on Saturday, March 7 at 8 a.m. All personal, craft, and food vendors are welcome. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

Lions to hold

membership drive

The Williston Lions Club announces its 2009 membership drive, which will kick off on March 7 with a fresh new Farmers and Flea Market. These activities will be hosted at the Williston Lions Club House located at 401 S.E. 6th Ave. (at Southeast 4th Street) in Williston. It will start at 8 a.m. and run until 3 p.m.

Revival set

at Cross Word

Cross Word Community Church will hold revival services beginning Sunday, March 8, through Wednesday, March 11. Sunday service will begin at 6 p.m. with Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday services beginning at 7 p.m.

The Rev. “Happy Jack” Gideon will be speaking each night. Pastor Lewie Fugate invites you to attend. Cross Word Community Church is located on U.S. Highway 41, just south of the hospital. For more information call 528-0552.

AARP to meet

Monday morning

AARP Chapter 12 meets on the second Monday each month at 9:30 a.m. in the Holy Family Catholic Church Hall.

The speaker at the March 9 meeting will be Eileen Senecal, RN from Trenton Medical Center.

The annual St. Patrick’s Day corned beef and cabbage lunch will be immediately after the meeting. Cost will be $7 per person for members and their guests.

Fish Fry Friday

at Holy Family

A fish fry will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, Alt. U.S. 27, Williston, on March 13 at 5 p.m. The adult price is $7 and the child’s price is $4. Takeouts are available. This fund-raiser helps people in the community with their financial problems.

There are door prizes of a free ticket to the following fish fry and a drawing for an individual winner with a small gift in appreciation of attending this dinner.

The Williston Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that on March 12th we will have a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to celebrate the opening of TMC Healthcare and TMC Chiropractic of Williston. This event will take place at 1:30 pm at 630 North Main St., Williston. Prior to the Ribbon Cutting TMC Healthcare will be having a Health Awareness Day from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm. The members of the GFWC Williston Woman’s Club invite you to come meet your friends and neighbors at a Chamber of Commerce Mixer on Thursday, March 12, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Woman’s Club, Highway 121 North.

Flutist to perform

Donna Wissinger, renowned flutist and educator, will present live musical performances at the Bronson Public Library on March 12 at 6 p.m. She has performed at Carnegie Hall, throughout the U.S. and Europe. In addition to being a celebrated concert performer, she is a published author, poet and known for her exemplary work in the field of arts education.
