Adult soccer

signup Saturday

Registration for the WYAA adult soccer program will be Saturday, Jan. 31, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Registration fee is $30.

Games begin Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. For information contact Angela at 528-6649.

The Soccer committee will meet at WYAA on Feb. 8 at 6 p.m.

City yard sale

to benefit Relay

The city of Williston is planning a yard sale for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life on Jan. 31.

The city is accepting any donations to help raise money for the ACS. Items can be dropped off at Williston City Hall.

Medical help

on Feb. 4

If you do, come see SHINE, a volunteer program with the Florida Department of Elder Affairs. SHINE provides free, unbiased and confidential assistance. If you cannot come to a site or want to know a site close to you, call the Elder Helpline at 1-800-262-2243.

SHINE’s next site is on Wednesday, Feb. 4, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Williston Public Library, and from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Bronson Public Library.

Sweetheart Dance

will be Feb. 7

The GFWC Williston Junior Woman’s Club has set the date for the annual Daddy’s Sweetheart Dance.

The dance will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, from 6-8 p.m. at the Williston Woman’s Club located at 1049 N.E. 6th Blvd. The dance is open to all girls in kindergarten through 5th grade.

The cost of admission is $15 per girl, her date is free. The admission price includes a souvenir photo and light refreshments. Coach Owens and Ms. Roshong will be providing the music and entertainment for the night. All young ladies are encouraged to attend this special evening with their dad, stepdad, uncle, grandfather, or other special man in their life. Proceeds from the dance will benefit the music and physical education departments at Williston Elementary School.

Dinner, movie

at Living Water

Living Water Life Center is hosting a sit-down dinner and movie on Friday, Feb. 13 at 6:30 p.m. to celebrate Valentine’s Day and welcome the community to visit the new church and retreat/outreach facility.

Families, individuals and groups from the area and surrounding communities are invited to join in the fun and fellowship and enjoy a delicious meal which will be followed by the classic film, “Yours, Mine and Ours” with Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda.

Reservations are required and may be made by calling 352-438-4545 or 352-489-0366. Please leave a message and someone will return your call. Cost is a donation of $5 per individual or $15 for a family.

Black History

program at library

The Friends of the Williston Library will feature a dance program from Gainesville to celebrate Black History Month in February. The African Cultural dance ensemble, directed by Femi Kako Addie, will appear at 7 p.m. in the library on Thursday, Feb. 19.

Femi also plays drums along with Robert Glaser to effect the beat for the dancers, who are Queen Chiku-Ngozi and Yetunde.

The event is free and open to the public. Reservations are not necessary.

Soccer signup

is extended

The Williston Youth Athletic Association has extended its soccer registration with two more dates.

Registration will be on Thursday, Feb. 12, from 5 to 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, Feb. 21, from 9 a.m. to noon, both at the WYAA concession stand.

The registration fee is $65. These will be the final signups.
