The Williston Youth Athletic Association has listed the following meeting and registration times.

We will be having a workday on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 9 a.m. and another on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 9 a.m.

Sign-ups for t-ball, baseball, softball and soccer will be on Jan. 17, 22 and 24 at the park. Registration is $75 for baseball and softball and $65 for t-ball and soccer. A copy of your child’s birth certificate is needed. Any questions call Mari at 528-4329 or Cathy at 528-4487.

ESE parent panel

to meet tonight

The Levy County Exceptional Student Parent Advisory Committee’s quarterly meeting will be Thursday, Jan. 15, in the parent classroom at the old Bronson High School from 6-8 p.m.

At this meeting, the speaker will be Marcia Baughn, who will discuss the frustration, anxiety and tension of students with learning disabilities. The title of her presentation is “Walking in their footsteps: How difficult can that be?”

Be prepared to laugh and cry but also be challenged with the knowledge that you will never take the ability to learn for granted again. All ESE parents are encourage to attend.

Bronson Chamber

to meet on Friday

The Greater Bronson Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its first meeting of the year on Friday, Jan. 16, at the Lady Luck Café, 157 N. Hathaway, Bronson, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For information call 486-6229.

The Williston Area Chamber of Commerce installation banquet will be Saturday, Jan. 24, at Williston Crossings RV Resort. Social hour starts at 6:30 p.m.

For reservations, contact the Chamber. Cost is $25 per person. Deadline is Friday, Jan. 16.

Charity golf

to be Saturday

The first Tomorrow’s Equestrian Center charity golf tournament will be held on Saturday, Jan. 17, at Williston Highlands Golf and Country Club. Registration is 8:30 a.m. and tee time is 9 a.m.

Entry fee is $40 per person, including lunch, or $160 for a foursome. Register online at 222.golfeventguide.com.

Prizes include $15,000 for a hole in one, and longest drive, closest to the pin and door prizes. The hole-in-one sponsor is Jenkins Auto Group.

The Williston/Raleigh Ministerial Alliance will hold its ninth annual MLK Scholarship Banquet on Saturday, Jan. 17, at the Williston Middle School Cafetorium beginning at 7 p.m.

The proceeds of the banquet are dedicated to scholarships for Williston High School students to continue their education.

Tickets for the event are $20 for adults (those 13 and over) and $10 for children 6 - 12. There is no charge for children under 6.

Ad space is still available in the souvenir program for the banquet. The rates are $100 for a full page or $50 for half a page.

Kids fun time

at local park

The Williston AARP chapter will be offering a “Kids Fun” time on Monday Jan. 19, at the Johnny Henry Park, in the 400 block of Northwest 1st Avenue, Williston. Registration will begin at 12:15 p.m. with fun activities from 1 to 3. Each child must be accompanied by a responsible person and be age 4 years through 11 years.

Games, relays, spin the wheel and various other fun activities will be available. The Youth Group of the First United Methodist Church will be conducting the games. Bring your child (children) and enjoy an active time with us.

Gospel sing

to be Sunday

Allen Chapel AME Church will present its third annual Gospel Extravaganza on Sunday, Jan. 18 at 4 p.m. at 38 N.E. 9th St., Williston.

The event will feature Keith Webster and the Gospel Echoes from Ocala, Minister Willie Thomas from Dunnellon, Brother Timothy Monroe Sr. from Williston, the Allen Chapel Choir and Lil’ Johnny and the New Gospel Wonders.

Pastor of the church is Ron Nelson.

Seniors’ fun at

Bronson church

Adult ministries of Bronson United Methodist Church is sponsoring an afternoon of food, fun and fellowship for area seniors the third Wednesday of every month beginning Jan. 21 at noon at the fellowship hall. There is no charge and transportation will be arranged for Bronson area residents, if needed. For more information or to arrange for transportation, please call the church at 486-2281. WHS baseball to

hold golf event

The Williston High School baseball team is sponsoring the first ever “Bats on Fire” golf tournament on Saturday, Jan. 24, at Williston Highlands Golf and Country Club. Registration is at 7:30 a.m. and the shotgun start is at 8.

This is a three-man scramble, $45 per person or $135 per team, which includes lunch. Hole sponsorships are available for $75. Advance team registration and a hole sponsorship is available for $200.

Soup/chili dinner

to be Jan. 25

A Soup/Chili dinner will be held at the Williston Woman’s Club on Sunday, Jan. 25 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. A variety of homemade soups and chilis will be available accompanied by salad , crackers and cornbread topped off with yummy desserts. Club members of the woman’s club and the junior woman’s club will be cooking for the fund-raiser which will help fund their club projects.

Adults may enjoy their fill trying different soups for just $6 and children under 10 are $3.
