Flag corps tryouts

Tryouts for the flag corps at Williston High school will be held from 4-6 p.m. on April 23, 24, May 5 and 12 at the high school band room. Students must be in the eighth grade next school year to try out. For information call Sharon Holcomb at 528-3680 after 4 p.m.

‘Florida Indian’ talk

“Florida Indians from Past to Present” will be the topic of a talk presented at the Luther Callaway Public Library in Chiefland, Thursday, April 23, at 6:30 p.m. Ranger Pam Darty of the Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge will be the guest speaker.

Hosted by the Friends of the Luther Callaway Public Library, the program will be held at the library which is located on the corner of Northeast 1st Avenue and 3rd Street, one block north of the Chiefland City Hall. For more information, call (352) 493-2758.

Yard sale at church

The First United Methodist Church of Williston will be having a yard sale on Saturday, April 25 from 8 a.m. to noon. All profits will benefit those children who will be attending the Warren W. Willis summer camp in Leesburg. The sale will be held at the 3rd Street House located between the church and the high school. Masonic barbecue

Ornan Lodge is having a chicken barbecue dinner on Saturday, April 25, from 11 a.m. .to 2 p.m. There will be baked beans, potato salad and bean salad, all for $5. This is to raise money for the lodge’s child safety day in September.

Ornan Lodge is located on State Road 121 North just outside of Williston.

WHSee^Drama show

WHS Drama presents “The Wizard of the Mall” on April 28th and 30th at 7 p.m. in the WHS auditorium.

At last Auntie Em is allowing Dorothy to go to the mall alone! But just as Dorothy enters the revolving doors, they spin out of control knocking her unconscious and killing the wicked sales clerk of the East Mall. Luckily, Glinda, a good sales clerk, helps Dorothy on the quest to find Kohls Department store. Along the way Dorothy travels with Burnout, who needs new brain cells; Security Guard, who needs a heart; and the Nerd who needs some courage. A modern twist on an all-time favorite story.

Commodity sked

Commodities will be distributed in Williston on April 28 at the Masonic Lodge on Highway 121 from 1 to 2 p.m.

Bronson yard sale

The Tri-County Foster/Adoptive Parents Association will hold its first yard sale on Saturday, May 2, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. behind the First Baptist Church of Bronson, 460 S. Court St., Bronson.

This is a non-profit organization and all proceeds will go to help foster/adoptive children in the Tri-County area.

Local book fair

Friends of the Williston Public library announces that there will be a Book Fair in June to wrap up the 2008-2009 season.

The First Saturday Book Fair in June will be held June 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the City Hall Community Center. The April Book Fair was cancelled and this event will take the place of that fair.

Volunteers will be contacted the week before the June Book Fair and the week before the May Book Fair, scheduled for Saturday, May 2.

Pap smear clinic

T.MC. Healthcare of Williston will hold a pap smear clinic on Thursday, May 14, from 1 to 4 p.m.

No appointment is necessary. This service will be provided to all women with a charge of only $5. This fee includes the office visit and the laboratory billing.
