Toy giveaway

was a success

On Dec. 6, Tri-County Pregnancy Center held its third annual Christmas Toy Giveaway. This year’s Giveaway was a record breaker for the Center. Approximately 90 families and 208 children received gifts. The Tri-County Pregnancy Center would like to thank all the people in our community who helped make this year such as success.

SHINE help

is Jan. 7

Do you have questions about Medicare, Medicaid, Supplemental Insurance, Part D Prescription Drug Plans, or Medicare Billings?

If you do, come see SHINE, a volunteer program with the Florida Department of Elder Affairs. SHINE provides free and confidential assistance. If you cannot come to a site or want to know which site is close to you, call the Elder Helpline at 1-800-262-2243.

SHINE’s next site is on Wednesday, Jan. 7, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Williston Library and from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Bronson Library.

Adult soccer

Registration for the Williston Coed Adult Soccer League will be held Saturday, Jan. 3, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Williston Sports Complex. The fee is $50 and you must be 19. For more information contact Angela at 528-6649.

There will be a Soccer Committee meeting on Sunday, Jan. 11, at 6 p.m. at WYAA.

Business group

meets Jan. 8

The Nature Coast Business Development Council will hold a board of directors meeting on Thursday, Jan. 8, at 8:30 a.m. in the Levy County Road Dept. conference room, 660 N. Hathaway Blvd., Bronson.

The meeting is open to the public.

Blood drive

is Jan. 9

Williston Community invites residents to do their part to ensure a safe and adequate blood supply for the community when they team up with LifeSouth Community Blood Centers to host a blood drive on Friday, Jan. 9 and Saturday, Jan. 10. Stop by the bloodmobile at City Hall between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. and make a contribution that can save up to three lives in local hospitals.

Donors are asked to eat a healthy meal, particularly breakfast, and drink plenty of fluids before donating. All donors will receive a recognition item and complimentary cholesterol screening. Donors must be at least 16 years old, weigh 110 pounds or more, and show a valid photo I.D. at the time of donation. 16-year-olds must have written parental consent to donate. Fish fri Friday

is Jan. 9

A fish fry will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, Alt. U.S. 27, Williston, on Jan. 9 at 6 p.m. The adult price is $7 and the child’s price is $4. Takeouts are available. This fund-raiser helps people in the community with their financial problems.

There are door prizes of a free ticket to the following fish fry and a drawing for an individual winner with a small gift in appreciation of attending this dinner.

Library Friends

meet Jan. 13

Friends of the Williston Public Library will hold a regular meeting, Tuesday, Jan. 13, at the library at 7 p.m. All members are asked to attend as well as any interested in the business and plans of “Friends”.

Among the items discussed will be the results of Christmas Baskets Auction.

Kids Fun Day

is Jan. 19

The Williston AARP chapter will be offering a “Kids Fun” time on Monday Jan. 19, at the Johnny Henry Park, in the 400 block of Northwest 1st Avenue, Williston. Registration will begin at 12:15 p.m. with fun activities from 1 to 3. Each child must be accompanied by a responsible person and be age 4 years through 11 years.

Games, relays, spin the wheel and various other fun activities will be available. The Youth Group of the First United Methodist Church will be conducting the games. Bring your child (children) and enjoy an active time with us.
