Homecoming set

at First Baptist

First Baptist church of Williston will celebrate 150 years with Homecoming Weekend Oct. 10-12.

Dr. John Sullivan, executive director treasurer of the Florida Baptist Convention, will be the featured preacher for all three services.

Friday's service, "A Time for Remembering," will begin at 7 p.m.

Saturday's service, "A Time for Renewing," will begin at 6 p.m.

Sunday's service, "A Time for Rejoicing," will begin at 10 a.m.

The singing treeman, Rob Langston of Chiefland, will be the guest soloist in the Sunday morning service and will provide a gospel music concert following the covered dish luncheon. There will be special music in each of the services.

Fish fry Friday

at Holy Family

A fish fry will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, Alt. U.S. 27, Williston, on Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. The adult price is $7 and the child's price is $4. Takeouts are available. This fund-raiser helps people in the community with their financial problems.

There are door prizes of a free ticket to the following fish fry and a drawing for an individual winner with a small gift in appreciation of attending this dinner.

meets on Friday

The Nature Cost Business Development Council board of directors meeting will be held Friday, Oct. 10, at 8:30 a.m. at the Levy County Road Dept. conference room, 660 N. Hathaway Ave., Bronson. The meeting is open to the public.

Oktoberfest

dinner is Sunday

An Oktoberfest dinner will be served at Holy Family Catholic Church parish hall on Sunday, Oct. 12, at 5 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door at $9 for adults and $5 for children. There will be a happy hour at 4 p.m. There will be German polka music, dancing allowed. The menu will consist of bratwurst, hot German potato salad, sauerkraut, various beverages, breads and Black Forest German cake. The event is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. Proceeds will be used to aid the emergency relief fund.

AARP to discuss

memory loss

Memory loss will be the subject of the speaker, Shirley Bloodsworth, at the next Williston Area AARP meeting at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 13. The public is welcome. The meeting will be held at the Ornan Masonic Lodge, 250 N.E. 6th Blvd., Williston. For information call 528-3323.

Hague reunion

to be Oct. 18

The Hague family reunion will be held Oct. 18 at Otter Springs R.V. Resort Lodge for descendents of Arch and Amanda Hague.

The meal will be about noon. Bring a covered dish, enough for your family plus four. Pictures, stories and family tree information is needed.

SHINE holds

Medicare talks

SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) will be giving a free education on basic Medicare changes and Medicare Part D for 2009. The presentation will be held on Oct. 23, at Williston Rehab and Nursing Center, 300 N.W. 1st Ave., behind Hardee's, from 9 to 10 a.m. Free breakfast will be provided by Williston Rehab. Woman's Club sets

lunch, fashion show

On Friday and Saturday, Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, the GFWC Williston Woman's Club will be holding a Fall Luncheon and Fashion Show at the clubhouse on State Road 121. Lunch will be prepared by the members and served at 11 a.m. and the fashion show (featuring all local talent) will follow.

A full line of fashions and accessories will be available for purchase both days. All proceeds from the luncheon and the sale of fashions will benefit Heifer International, an organization dedicated to ending hunger in this country and abroad. Tomorrow's Equestrian Center will hold its third annual charity auction and chicken dinner fund-raiser Nov. 8 at Southern Auction Marketing Services on Alt. Highway 27 in Williston. Preview of live auction items will start at 4 p.m. Live auction will start at 6:30 p.m. Silent auction items will be available from 4 p.m until 7 p.m

The Levy County Health Department in conjunction with Suwannee River Area Health Education Center is hosting a bone density screening Thursday, Nov. 13, from 3-6 p.m. for adults ages 30 and up. An educational session will take place from 3-3:30. Call 486-3405.
