CFCC Levy offers class on organizing
Central Florida Community College Levy Center will offer a course on overcoming obstacles to organization, just in time to satisfy those New Year's resolutions of becoming more orderly.
The new course, Organizing Begins in the Brain, will be offered 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 10 and 20, at the Levy Center, 114 Rodgers Blvd. in Chiefland. The course fee is $25.
The course is designed for individuals who would like to become organized, but consider the task overwhelming. In session one, students will prepare their minds to get organized. Session two will focus on specific strategies.
The instructor is Helen Kornblum, owner of National Order Organizing, a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers and the National Study Group of Chronic Disorganization. She writes columns on personal and business organizing for the Gainesville Sun.

AARP_driver class will be Jan. 21-22
Linda Cochran will be conducting an AARP Driver Safety class at the Williston City Hall, 50 N W Main Street, Williston on Jan. 21 and 22 at 9 a.m. each day.
The eight-hour classroom refresher, taught four hours a day over a two-day period, is designed for senior drivers age 55 and over. There is a $10 fee per person. To register call Linda at (352) 493-1742.
Upon successfully completing the course, participants will receive a certificate, which, when presented to their auto insurance carrier, may entitle them to a multi-year discount. Check with your insurance carrier for further information.
Fair group meets tonight in Williston
The Levy County Fair Association intends to begin reviewing and planning for the 2008 fair.
All who wish to join the association and participate in planning may begin by attending the monthly member meetings scheduled to start up on Dec. 13, (the second Thursday of each month to follow) at 6:30 p.m.
The location of the December meeting will be the Williston Community Center, along side Williston City Hall. The 2008 meeting schedule will be determined at the next meeting.
Animal Group hosts holiday memory tree
The Williston Animal Group is hosting a Holiday Memory Tree to honor and remember those loving animals who have passed from our lives, but who we would like to remember at this time.
For a $5 donation, an ornament with the name of your furry or feathered friend will be placed on the Holiday Tree which will stand at the intersection of Main and Noble, in front of The Levy Insurance Office for all to see. After the Holiday season, the ornament will be yours to keep.

Santa visits bank in Bronson Friday
Santa Claus will be at Perkins State Bank, Bronson, 331 E. Hathaway Ave. on Friday Dec. 14, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the main lobby. The Humane Society of Levy County, Inc. will be there taking pictures for those who would like them. The donation to the society will be $8. If just want to come and talk to Santa, mark your calendar.
Free concert set at Morriston church
A free Christmas concert will be presented by Wade Hammond at Morriston Baptist Church on Sunday, Dec. 16 at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Wade Hammond is a Christian singer, songwriter and Dove Award nominee. He has appeared on TBN, The Miracle Channel and Family Net. He sings a variety of music including praise and worship, inspirational, hymns and gospel. His songs reach people of all ages. His stories make you laugh and cry, but more importantly each genuinely touches the heart.
This Christmas, Wade and his wife are coping with the recent loss of their grown son in a tragic accident. Wade will share how his faith gets him through each day in hopes of ministering to others hurting during this holiday season.

Church of God plans Christmas cantata
The Williston Church of God choir will be presenting "Christmas is Jesus," a cantata created and arranged by Mike Speck. Through narration and an arrangement of contemporary and Southern Gospel songs, the Christmas Story is told.
The Christmas cantata will take place on Saturday, Dec. 22, at 7 p.m., and on Sunday, Dec. 23, at 10:30 a.m.

City of Williston Relay for Life sale
There will be a yard sale in the Williston Community Center, 45 N.W. Main St., on Saturday, Dec. 15, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.
