Post office holds
annual food drive
The Williston post office held its annual food drive last Saturday, and distributed 17,000 pounds of food to First United Methodist Church and the Tri-County Pregnancy Center. Postal officials thank the community for an outstanding response.

The All-County Band will hold an evening performance this Friday, May 16, at 7:30 in the Chiefland High School Auditorium. A reception will follow.
The public is invited to attend to hear the selected musicians from Bronson High, Chiefland High and Williston High perform. Dr. Watkins from the University of Florida is the guest conductor this year.
Class of '58 holds
reunion this week
The Williston High School class of 1958 is holding its 50th reunion on May 16 (Friday) and May 17 (Saturday). Out of the 36 living members of the class, all have been contacted, and 70-80 percent will be in attendance.
The class would like to invite anyone from the community who so wishes to join us on Friday at 7:30 p.m. for dessert at the Whitehurst Lodge on County Road 346. The address is 9820 S.W. CR 346. The dress is Williston casual.

A community senior car wash is being planned for Saturday, May 17, at 8 a.m. You are asked to support the senior class of Williston High School.

Fish fry to help
A fish fry fund-raiser to help a student attend a 4-H competition in Nebraska in June is being held this Saturday, May 17.
The fund-raiser will start at 10 a.m. and continue until the food is gone. It will be held at the 4-H office in Bronson, also known as the Levy County Extension Office and Ag Center.
The cost is $5 a plate and includes fish, hush puppies, two sides and dessert. All proceeds go to Hunter Lowe to help fund his trip to Grand Island, Neb., in June for the 4-H National Rifle Competition. He will be representing the state of Florida.
Church to hold
family, friends day
Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church will have an 11 a.m. worship service with family and friends on Sunday, May 18. The messenger will be Presiding Elder, J.B.Keel.
The church will also give tribute to Theodore "Boa" Dallas who is 100 years old. His family and all friends are invited to attend.

Becki Stevens is a certified lay speaker associated with the First United Methodist Church in Williston. She is active in her church in the Alpha Program and Prison Ministry. She currently is a licensed clinical social worker employed by the University of Florida College of Medicine working with the Healthy Start Program at the Levy County Health Department. She is also an active volunteer in her community.

John Starnes, a well known tenor soloist in Gospel music, will be singing and speaking in Williston at Cornerstone Assembly of God on Sunday, May 18, at 6 p.m. The church is located at 1045 N.E. Sixth Blvd. (State Road 121).

The third annual Thomas Cattle Buying Services Inc. Williston Ranch Rodeo will be held Friday and Saturday, May 23 and 24, at 8 p.m. at Williston Horseman's Park. Proceeds benefit the Williston Quarterback Club.
There will be a beef cook-off and dinner Saturday night at 8, and a calf scramble and Muttin Bustin for the kids. There will be wild bull riding, team saddling, wild cow milking, steer tying, wild steer roping, team branding, wild horse race, buddy pickup and bronc riding. You must represent a working ranch to compete.

car wash for funds
Cub Scout Pack 163 of First United Methodist Church in Williston will hold a car wash to raise funds for the summer programs and the upcoming school year. It will be held on Saturday, May 24, starting at 9:30 a.m. in front of Advance Auto Parts. Donations are gratefully accepted.

The One Wing Low Squadron will hold its fourth annual Electric Fun-Fly on May 24 and 25, from dawn to dusk, at the site on County Road 464w, 2.5 miles west of U.S. 41.
Landing fees are $10 a day. There are no parking fees and spectators are welcome. There will be family fun, food, vendors and camping on site with clean rest rooms and water on site.

WHS to hold
first family day
The first Community Family Day will be held at Williston High School on Saturday, May 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Mothers and daughters will participate in make-overs, manicures, pedicures, massages and much more. They may also choose to participate in a fashion show with clothes provided by Catos.
Fathers and sons will participate in sack races, tug of war, football toss and much more to show off their athletic prowess. A guest speaker will speak to families and a free lunch will be provided afterwards. Gift baskets, gift cards and surprises will be given away throughout the day. New photo club
to hold 1st meeting
The Nature Coast Photography Club will hold its first meeting on Tuesday, May 27, at 7 p.m. at Boondock's Restaurant in Bronson.
All ages and experience levels are welcome.
This is a free club for those who are interested in learning how to use their camera more effectively, or experienced people who would love to share this information with their fellow shutterbugs.
There will be competitions, group outings and fun.
TDC sets meeting
on May 29
The Levy County Tourist Development Council will meet on Thursday, May 29, at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Visitors Bureau Office, 620 N. Hathaway Ave., Bronson.

The Levy County Enterprise Zone Development Agency has changed its meeting schedule to bi-monthly. The following are the regularly scheduled meeting dates:

All meetings are held at Levy Abstract & Title. June's meeting may be relocated to view a possible banquet site.

The 54th Annual Chiefland Watermelon Festival will be held on June 7. Area residents and guests are invited to come out and enjoy a wide variety of events, including contests, arts, crafts and food vendors. The Munden family will hold its annual reunion on June 8 at Hart Springs in the a/c pavilion A & B. If you are a descendent of the late Daniel Munden and LouVina Osteen Munden, you are invited to come have a fun filled day getting to know other family members.
