Brisket cooking contest

The Levy County Cattlewomen would like to invite you to test your brisket-cooking-skills at the third annual Williston Ranch Rodeo on May 23-24 at the Williston Horseman's Park. For team rules and sign-up information, please call (352) 535-5226.

Church to hold yard sale

The Gospel Barn Church in Morriston is having a yard and bake sale on Friday and Saturday, May 23-24. Follow U.S. 41 south approximately five miles south of the Morriston store to Southeast 70th Lane (Small Farms Road). Turn right, go one block, turn left approximately two blocks and it is the red barn church on the left.

Class of 1968 plans

reunion this weekend

The Williston Vocational Class of 1968 will hold its 40-year class reunion May 23-25.

A welcome and registration fish fry is planned for Friday night. There will be several events on Saturday to include a barbecue/picnic, and a banquet and ball at the Williston Woman's Club.

All alumni (all classes) and their guests are invited to attend.

Rodeo is this weekend

The third annual Thomas Cattle Buying Services Inc. Williston Ranch Rodeo will be held Friday and Saturday, May 23 and 24, at 8 p.m. at Williston Horseman's Park. Proceeds benefit the Williston Quarterback Club.

There will be a beef cook-off and dinner Saturday night at 8, and a calf scramble and Muttin Bustin for the kids. There will be wild bull riding, team saddling, wild cow milking, steer tying, wild steer roping, team branding, wild horse race, buddy pickup and bronc riding. You must represent a working ranch to compete.

Car wash to be held

Cub Scout Pack 163 of First United Methodist Church in Williston will hold a car wash to raise funds for the summer programs and the upcoming school year. It will be held on Saturday, May 24, starting at 9:30 a.m. in front of Advance Auto Parts. Donations are gratefully accepted.

Electric Fun-fly to be

held in area this weekend

The One Wing Low Squadron will hold its fourth annual Electric Fun-Fly on May 24 and 25, from dawn to dusk, at the site on County Road 464W, 2.5 miles west of U.S. 41.

Landing fees are $10 a day. There are no parking fees and spectators are welcome. There will be family fun, food, vendors and camping on site with clean rest rooms and water on site.

Pet vaccinations set

On Saturday, May 24, Levy County Animal Services will be hosting low-cost pet vaccinations at the Levy County Animal Services Shelter, 12055 N.E. 69th Lane, Bronson, off C335 at the Levy County Landfill. The time is from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Rabies vaccinations are needed for the quality of the environment and the protection of our pets. Rabies vaccinations will be $10 for dogs and cats. The only rabies vaccinations recognized by the state are those administered by a licensed veterinarian.

Remember flea and tick season is upon us and your pets need protection.

You can adopt a pet during the clinic, which could save a life.

It is puppy and kittens season, if you would love to have a companion animal please come by the shelter during the clinic or Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Phone is (352)486-5138.

Family Day at WHS

The first Community Family Day will be held at Williston High School on Saturday, May 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Mothers and daughters will participate in make-overs, manicures, pedicures, massages and much more. They may also choose to participate in a fashion show with clothes provided by Catos.

Fathers and sons will participate in sack races, tug of war, football toss and much more to show off their athletic prowess. A guest speaker will speak to families and a free lunch will be provided afterwards. Gift baskets, gift cards and surprises will be given away throughout the day. Victory Museum

open on holiday

The U.S. Victory Museum is located within the historic 1890 Archer City Hall at 17079 S.W. 138th Lane, Archer, and houses memorabilia from World War I, World War II, and the Korean War, along with other historic artifacts. It is dedicated to the sailors, soldiers and airmen who served and defended our country.

The museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 26, Memorial Day; June 7, Yulee Days; June 14, Flag Day; and July 4.

Holiday changes

garbage pickup

Williston customers with normal garbage pick-up on Monday, May 26, will be picked up on Tuesday, May 27 - along with Tuesday's normal pickup.

City Hall will be closed on Monday, May 26 in observance of Memorial Day.

New photo club

to meet May 27

The Nature Coast Photography Club will hold its first meeting on Tuesday, May 27, at 7 p.m. at Boondock's Restaurant in Bronson.

All ages and experience levels are welcome.

The Levy County Tourist Development Council will meet on Thursday, May 29, at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Visitors Bureau Office, 620 N. Hathaway Ave., Bronson.

EZDA changes

its meeting dates

The Levy County Enterprise Zone Development Agency has changed its meeting schedule to bi-monthly. The following are the regularly scheduled meeting dates:

Wed., June 2, at 9 a.m.

Wed., Aug. 6, at 9 a.m.

Wed., Oct. 8, at 9 a.m.

All meetings are held at Levy Abstract & Title. June's meeting may be relocated to view a possible banquet site.

Banquet date tentatively set for Tues., Oct. 21, in Williston. More information to follow.

Watermelon event

to be held June 7

The 54th Annual Chiefland Watermelon Festival will be held on June 7. Area residents and guests are invited to come out and enjoy a wide variety of events, including contests, arts, crafts and food vendors. will hold reunion

The Munden family will hold its annual reunion on June 8 at Hart Springs in the a/c pavilion A & B. If you are a descendent of the late Daniel Munden and LouVina Osteen Munden, you are invited to come have a fun filled day getting to know other family members. Bring family pictures and any family history memorabilia that you would like to share.

The first "Old School Prom" for those age 40 and up will be held at the Williston Middle School Cafetorium on Saturday, June 14, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 a couple or $15 single.

Class of 1990

to hold reunion

Williston High School class of 1990 is planning a reunion for Aug. 16.

Evening festivities will begin at 6 p.m. (social hour) with dinner to follow at 7 p.m. at the Williston Golf and Country Club. The cost will be $35 a person.
