New Life Temple Fellowship Inc. presents the annual High Compassion High Community Awareness Day on Saturday, Aug. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Southeast 10th Street, behind the A&S Store.

This is an absolutely free event with hot food, canned goods, clothes, gifts for the community, etc.

Jesus Carnival

Bronson United Methodist Church, 235 N. Court St., Bronson will celebrate the Jesus Carnival on Saturday, Aug. 2 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. There will be fun for the entire family. Moonwalk, games, lots of prizes, drawings, cake walk, bingo, crafts, music and entertainment, food including hamburgers, hot dogs, snowcones, popcorn and more.

SHINE, a volunteer program with the Florida Dept. of Elder Affairs, will be conducting free and confidential counseling on Medicare, Medicaid, Supplemental Insurance, Part D Drug Plans, and Prescription Assistance Programs at the Williston Library on Wednesday, Aug. 6, from 10 to noon.

Fish fry Friday

at Holy Family

A fish fry will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, Alt. U.S. 27, Williston, on Aug. 8 at 6 p.m. The adult price is $7 and the child's price is $4. Takeouts are available. This fund-raiser helps people in the community with their financial problems.

There are door prizes of a free ticket to the following fish fry and a drawing for an individual winner with a small gift in appreciation of attending this dinner.

Fund-raiser fights

blood cancers

A fund-raiser for the leukemia and lymphoma society, to help fight blood cancers, will be held at Williston Highlands Golf and Country Club, State Road 121 south of Williston, on Aug. 9 and 7 p.m.

The Mean Jo Mac Band will play songs from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Tickets will be sold at the door for $20. Seating is limited.

Yard sale to help

local woman

A yard sale will be held Saturday, Aug. 9, beginning at 8 a.m. at Kids N Company on North Main Street in Williston.

All proceeds from the sale will benefit Rachel Tilton. Donations are still being accepted.

Rachel will be 21 next month and was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma halfway through her senior year in high school at WHS. She beat it then, but has had a recurrence recently. She also just gave birth, four weeks ago, to a fine son, Jesse (seven weeks premature).

Revival under way

Miracle Vision Tabernacle Outreach Center, Inc. 18680 N.E. 75th St., Williston, Pastor Carl J. Carnegie and First Lady Janie Carnegie, is holding a revival with Bishop Ernest Folston of Crusaders for Christ in Sanderson.

The revival will be held tonight (Thursday) and Friday, Aug. 1, at 7:30 p.m.

BYL registration

Bronson Youth League registration for fall football, cheerleading and soccer has begun.

All registration forms and fees must be turned in at Bronson Town Hall.

Football and cheerleader fees are $75. Soccer fees are $60.

The final day to register is Saturday, Aug. 23.

Youth League meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at the town hall.

All concerned parents and guardians are welcome to attend the meetings.

Physicals needed

for football

Any Williston High School students who wish to participate in football this school year must have a physical exam before they can practice. Physical forms and all other required paperwork are available in the Williston High School front office.

Casino night

Dust off your hat, sharpen those spurs and put on your biggest rhinestones! GFWC Williston Junior Woman's Club is proud to present the 10th Annual Wranglers and Rhinestones Casino Night. The event will be held from 7-11:30 p.m. at the Williston Golf and Country Club on Saturday, Aug. 23. Tickets are $25 in advance and $35 at the door. Ticket price includes $10,000 in "Casino Dollars."

Enjoy a casual evening filled with a silent auction and live auction, gaming with local dealers, hors d'oeuvres and raffles. Proceeds will benefit the Levy County Schools Foundation and be disbursed as local scholarships and teacher grants. 'Wet Day' set

The city of Williston will hold a "wet day" for residents to cool off at Johnny T. Henry Park on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 10 a.m. to noon.

There will be free hot dogs and drinks. The event is open to the public.

Books needed

Bronson Friends of the Library are collecting book donations for their upcoming first book sale. Please bring your donations to the Bronson Library Tuesday/Thursday 1-8 p.m., Wednesday/Friday noon-5 p.m., Saturdays 10-3.
