4-H Roundup

to be Aug. 23

Levy County 4-H will hold its annual Roundup Aug. 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m at the Extension Office in Bronson. The Hartley Barbecued Chicken Contest will begin at 8 a.m.

Roundup is a chance for everyone to come see what 4-H is about. You will have the opportunity to look over project books and ask questions. Each club will have a display set up about what their club's interests are. Each club will also have a make and take craft or activity for the kids. Door prizes will be given out throughout the day. Everyone is invited to stay for a lunch of barbecued chicken. We ask that each family brings a covered dish and or dessert. If you have any questions please call Mrs. Evelyn at 486-5131.

Blood donations

to be Aug. 22-23

Experience the adventure of saving a life and donate blood at Camp LifeSouth this summer. At Camp LifeSouth, the camp fire is always burning for the need to give blood.

LifeSouth invites you to give the gift of life when they team up with the community of Williston to host a blood drive on Friday, Aug. 22 and Saturday, Aug. 23. Look for the bloodmobile each day at City Hall. Hours on Friday are 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Hours on Saturday are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

"The need for blood doesn't take a vacation," said Joyce Higgins, a recruiter for LifeSouth. "Please be a summer lifesaver and give blood."

Camp LifeSouth donors will receive s'mores, a recognition item and complimentary cholesterol screening. Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh 110 pounds or more, and show a valid photo I.D. at the time of donation. BYL signups

Bronson Youth League registration for fall football, cheerleading and soccer has begun. All registration forms and fees must be turned in at Bronson Town Hall. Football and cheerleader fees are $75. Soccer fees are $60. The final day to register is Saturday, Aug. 23.

Casino night set

Dust off your hat, sharpen those spurs and put on your biggest rhinestones! GFWC Williston Junior Woman's Club is proud to present the 10th Annual Wranglers and Rhinestones Casino Night. The event will be held from 7-11:30 p.m. at the Williston Golf and Country Club on Saturday, Aug. 23. Tickets are $25 in advance and $35 at the door. Ticket price includes $10,000 in "Casino Dollars."

Enjoy a casual evening filled with a silent auction and live auction, gaming with local dealers, hors d'oeuvres and raffles. Proceeds will benefit the Levy County Schools Foundation and be disbursed as local scholarships and teacher grants. Tickets available from Julie at Perkins State Bank and Williston Highlands Golf and Country Club.

Bronson extends

book sale

The Bronson Friends of the Library is extending its first book sale through this weekend. There are children, romance, mystery, self-help, health, and so many more books.

The sale is located in the Old Bronson Town Hall Thursday, Aug. 21 and Friday, Aug. 22, from noon to 4 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 23, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Back to school

at First Baptist

First Baptist Church of Williston will hold a Back to school Bonanza, "Stepping Out:Mission Possible" on Aug. 23 from 2-5 p.m. at the Family Life Center at the church.

All Williston area children in grades 1-6 are invited.

There will be games, prizes, music, snacks, lots of fun, and it's free.

Amvets events

Amvets Post 88 will be having a three-day event Saturday, Aug. 30, Sunday, Aug. 31 and Monday, Sept. 1, which is Labor Day.

On Saturday Amvets will hold a car show starting at 10 a.m. with roasted ig dinners and beverages available. Trophies will be awarded at 3 p.m.

On Sunday, Aug. 31, Amvets will host a membership drive starting at noon that will include Amvets, Ladies Auxiliary and Sons of Amvets. There will be hamburgers, hot dogs and beverages.

Monday, Labor Day, Amvets will hold karaoke for the Levy County Fair Association, starting at 11 a.m. The top three qualifiers will be eligible to go on to the Levy County Fair Contest. The public is invited to all events, at Amvets new 88, 10050 SR 24, at Bronson Speedway.
