Flag Team plans

barbecue Saturday

All proceeds go to the flag team.

Book Fair planned

at City Hall

Friends of the Williston Public Library has received more than 35 boxes of books for the First Saturday Book Fair to be held Sept. 6. These books are in addition to those that have accumulated during the summer, so this should be one of the largest book fairs "Friends" has ever had.

The event will be in the Williston City Hall Community Center as has been previously printed. Donations for the books are suggested to be: hardbacks, $1; softbacks, 50 cents; paperbacks, 25 cents; children's book and magazines, 10 cents. This will be the best time to pick up books for Christmas giving because there are quite often brand new books in the fair. In addition, book lovers like getting used books almost as much as they do a new book.

Volunteers are needed to work the event and anyone who can help is asked to call Mary McDaniell, 528-5972 or Kathleen Wheeler, 528-5415. The work for the fair starts Thursday evening, Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. by transporting books from the library to the community center. Come and help; you will have fun and help the library at the same time!

JBES panel

meets Tuesday

The Joyce Bullock Elementary School Advisory Committee (SAC) is looking for members.

The SAC is a team of community members, parents, teachers, school staff, and others who are interested and invested in the direction of the school. The primary focus of this team is to help create and evaluate the school improvement plan and assist the principal with the school budget. The SAC will meet for the first time Tuesday, Sept. 9, at 6 p.m. in the JBE Media Center. A PTO meeting will directly follow at 7. While we welcome all interested parties, we are in dire need of community stakeholders.
