Two Williston store clerks were arrested last Friday after agents from the Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco and the Williston Police Department conducted an undercover operation in the city limits to ensure convenience stores were complying with Florida laws and not selling alcoholic beverages to underage people.
Jennie Shiminski, 39, of Bronson and an emploee at the Star Food Store, 13 West Noble Ave. and Maria Ortiz, 49, of Bronson and an employee at Los Ortiz at 937 East Noble Ave. were both given notice to appear in county court to answer the charge filed against them, according to Williston Poliec Chief Dennis Strow.
Operations such as this one are an ongoing cooperative effort between the Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco and the Williston Police Department to reduce the availability of alcoholic beverages to our children.
Both clerks were charged with Making Sale of Alcohol to an Underage Person which is a misdemeanor under Florida law.
