To the editor:
For almost seven years in a row to date, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has opened their building and hearts to provide a safe haven for Santa’s helpers.
This is through the 501c Not-For-Profit national organization of Holiday Hope Inc. founded and based here in Williston.
It all started many years ago, when nurses at our hospital in Williston provided a Christmas for a family that had just lost their home to a fire. It continued on and has grown to provide Christmas-giving to over 300 children per year in Levy County. A special THANK YOU, goes out to all the churches, doctors, nurses, EMTs, Department of Health providers, tire companies, insurance agencies (bicycle procurement) and countless other businesses and individuals who make the TRUE Spirit of Christmas, (alive and well in Williston and Levy County), shine forth every year!
That Spirit is in finding, and supplying for those around us in need. (Even up to Christmas Eve itself! Happens every year!)
For aren’t we all in NEED of something, sometime, somewhere in our lives here? In the supplying of that need, is seen the True Spirit of Christmas.
Our NEED was met many, many, many moons ago. We are all just Paying-It-Forward, whether we realize it, or not.
Merry Christmas to all, and to ALL a blessed night.
