Jack Screws, Elihu Ross and Cal Byrd will take their oaths of office Tuesday night during the investiture ceremony for Williston City Council.
Neither of the men had opposition in this year’s city election and all came to hold their current seats initially due to resignations.
The council meeting was at first just the ceremony, but council voted in March to cancel its April 2 meeting and combine it with the installation.
In other business from the March 19 meeting, council:
• voted to renew a lease with the Levy County School Board near the airport where the land lab is located.
• awarded Mike Asbell of Root ‘em Out Hog Removal the contract to eliminate feral hogs at the airport. The city will realize about $1,500 from the endeavor, in addition to making the airport property safer.
• passed a resolution that will allow the DOT to operate a test track near the airport that will certify contractors’ equipment that is used in surveying state roads.
The agreement will be good for 30 years and the city will gain a newly paved street and a new structure from the project.
