One suspect is dead and four others are under arrest after a home invasion early Wednesday.
According to a news release, the invasion occurred in the 19000 block of Northwest County Road 335 in Marion County, just outside of the Williston area.
Officials say two armed suspects unlawfully entered the residence, and as a result a homeowner "retrieved a firearm and shot and killed one suspect."
The second suspect fled along with some others.
The dead man was identified as Jonathan Gaal, 19, of Southeast 70th Loop in Ocala.
Through an investigation, detectives learned a maintenance man from Williston was responsible for helping the two home invaders gain access to the residence where the incident occurred. Two other suspects were reportedly waiting in the get-a-way car during the invasion and shooting.
After hours of questioning all persons involved, detectives were able to piece together a tangled plot to rob the residence. The Florida State Statute states any person involved in a felony that results in a death can be charged with felony murder.
Those arrested include Brian Bond, 19, of Southeast 148th Place in Summerfield, armed home invasion, second degree felony murder; Jackie Bellomy Jr., 48, of Northwest 192nd Place, Williston, armed home invasion, second degree felony murder; Albert Rodriguez, 21, Southeast 132nd Place, Belleview, armed home invasion, second degree felony murder; and Richard Bellomy, 24, Northwest 192nd Place, Williston, armed home invasion, second degree felony murder.
