For those who live in Levy County and the surrounding area, the big red auction barn located just west of Williston on U.S. Highway 27A is a well known landmark in the area.
Southern Auction Marketing is a modest local auction house that has strived to be a neighborhood friendly business.
Every Monday evening the parking lot begins to fill, and the bidding starts at 6:30 p.m.
One of the best-revered auctioneers in North Florida, Colonel Joel Kulcsar holds the gavel and with experience and knowledge of the merchandise, Joel becomes the star of the show.
Shirley and (the late) George Kulcsar opened the auction house in February of 2003. The family business has continued to grow and is looking forward to the opening of “Auction Dust” a new variety store and possible coffee shop. Auction Dust Variety will be located adjacent to the big red auction barn.
The Southern Auction Marketing family has some new additions. Sister Wendy and husband Jimmy Savoy have joined the auction house family team.
As successful restaurant owners in Atlanta, they hope to share general business wisdom with the auction house family, and plan for other diverse expansions to better serve their long time clients and customers.

The Southern Auction Marketing family will continue to hold their regular Monday evening auctions as usual. But with the opening of the Auction Dust Variety Store, you will be able to shop the store Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The store will be opening in mid-February and will consist mainly of liquidation items. These are items from both consignments and buyouts.
The Variety Store opening date is being planned to take place with the annual anniversary celebration held every February.

You won’t have to miss the excitement with the planned addition of on-line bidding. You can also talk to them about on-line sales via E-Bay listings.
One customer happened to walk into the auction barn while I was there doing this story. I approached him and asked why he shopped at Southern Auction Marketing? “I have always gotten great deals, they have a great selection of furniture, appliances, tools, and just about anything one is looking for. Their prices are good and the quality of the merchandise is well above average,” said Ray Pierce, a customer for the last two years.
