Researchers have long speculated on the reasons behind what drives some people to become sex offenders. From the theory that it’s a learned behavior, with offenders themselves doing what was at some point done to them, to the notion that offenders lack self-esteem or, at some point in their development, missed out on what it means to have feelings of empathy, society struggles to come to grips with the issue.
