RFL is thankful for ‘you’

-A A +A

 To the editor:

The Williston Relay For Life Committee would like to thank YOU for your amazing support over the years.  We are truly THANKFUL for every survivor, caregiver, volunteer, team, sponsor and advocate in our great community!  Without you, there is no Relay and without Relay where would we be in cancer research, community educational programs, advocacy and patient services…Cancer has affected us all in one way or another and your support of the American Cancer Society and Relay For Life is very appreciated.  As we continue to tally fundraising dollars coming in we are at nearly $57,000.  Our final totals will be announced at the end of May.  WOW Williston!!  That is absolutely incredible.

Remember, there is no finish line until we find a cure.  Relay happens year round and isn’t just about raising money, but also raising awareness in our community. We thank you for joining us in the FIGHT AGAINST CANCER!

For those Prom kids that joined us before the event to volunteer or visit and to those who came after Prom, you all looked AMAZING and it was wonderful to see you showing your support for this great cause!

Regardless of the miscommunication in events following the Prom you came and that’s what matters.

A huge thank you to the Junior Woman’s Club for so generously hosting the breakfast for the Prom kids.  It was a beautiful spread that was enjoyed by all!!  Again, awesome to have you all be a part of the Williston Relay For Life.

In the future we’ll make sure to better schedule these two wonderful events so that everyone can take part in both.

The American Cancer Society combines an unyielding passion with nearly a century of experience to save lives and end suffering from cancer. As a global grassroots force of more than three million volunteers, we fight for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. We save lives and help people stay well by preventing cancer or detecting it early;  being a support system for them during and after a cancer diagnosis; finding cures through investment in groundbreaking discovery; fighting back by rallying lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer; and by rallying communities worldwide to join the fight. As the nation’s largest non-governmental investor in cancer research, contributing about $3.4 billion, we turn what we know about cancer into what we do. As a result, more than 11 million people in America who have had cancer and countless more who have avoided it will be celebrating birthdays this year.
