A year’s worth of fund-raising, that brought in over $50,000 to date, was celebrated Saturday and Sunday with the annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
The 12-hour celebration began with the traditional Cancer Survivor Walk. From Cupcake Wars to the first-ever Glow Run, the event included fun, games, contests, entertainment and laughter.
During the opening ceremonies, Jana Tucker, local event chairwoman, said from the moment people get the diagnosis of cancer they become survivors.
Keynote speaker Angie Medeiros, an 18-year uterine cancer survivor, urged early detection and prevention.
