Nothing says springtime more than the juicy goodness of fresh Florida blueberries – unless it’s a festival held down on the farm.
This year, Williston’s Red White & Blues Farm, a renowned U-Pick center, will celebrate the season with its first Blueberry Festival May 6-7.
More than 100 vendors, featuring arts, crafts, information and food are expected to be on site at the 100-acre farm during the two-day event that will also showcase blues and jazz music, pony rides, a petting zoo, bungee rides and more for the children in your life.
“It’s really all about the family,” said Michelle Hampton, event coordinator. “We want people to come out and spend the day with us. We’re adding swings and tire mazes for the children and corn hole games for everyone.”
And of course, guests can pick blueberries or sample some of the muffins, pies, cobblers and milkshakes made from them.
Over in the new kitchen, the farm will sell barbecue pork sandwiches, blueberry slaw, homemade mac and cheese, baked beans, blueberry chicken salad and blueberry lemonade.
Picnic tables are available, or bring your blanket and laze around the grounds.
The festival runs from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. both days. Tickets are $7 per person at the gate or $5 if you purchase online before the event. A wristband gains you entry for both days.
“It will take place rain or shine,” Hampton promised.
