On Tuesday night Dec. 4, the Williston Red Devils hosted the Fort White Indians. The Red Devils started off slow and played catch up basketball through out the game as they were being whistled for fouls on defense and creating turnovers on offense.

The Indians wasted little time in taking advantage at the foul line in the first half as the teams played to a 43-43 tie at the break. The Indians were 10 of 18 from the foul line which kept them in the game. The Indians also put on a full court press that saw the Red Devils turn the ball over on bad passing on far too many occasions.

Earl Brown led the Red Devils with 18 first half points while Tre Phillips led the Indians with 13 first half points.

The second half didn't fare much better for the Red Devils as the foul calls continued along with turnovers. The Indians took a 64-56 lead into the fourth and final quarter.

Playing with three transfer players, two from Santa Fe and one from Buchholz, the Indians kept pace with the Red Devils in the fourth and final quarter to hand the Red Devils an 87-82 loss.

The Red Devils are now 2-1 in the first round of district play with Bradford and Santa Fe left in the first round.

Brown ended the game with 27 points while Tre Wilson had 17 points. Guard Nate Watson had 14 points for the Red Devils.

Melton Sanders led Fort White with 27 points, and Phillips had 20 for the Indians.

In early game action,  the Fort White JV boys were led by Cody Denko with 14 points. Malik Hall led the Red Devil JV with 15 points and D'onte King had 12 points.
