The Williston boys’ basketball team improved its season record to 5-1 and 2-0 in district play as they roared past the Interlachen Rams on Tuesday night.
The game saw both teams get off to a slow start with a low scoring first half that saw the Red Devils hold a 32-21 half time lead over the Rams.
The Red Devils Tre Wilson went in for his second slam dunk of the game following a steal by the defense. Wilson was whistled for a technical foul following a powerful dunk for what the official now working on his third technical foul call of the game, called this one for taunting.
The Red Devils got their game on as the third quarter got under way as they began to roll over the Rams and take a commanding 62-36 lead as the third quarter ended. Two minutes into the fourth quarter, the Red Devils emptied their bench and the subs proceeded to run the clock on the Rams as the Red Devils took a 74-38 lead. They went on for a 78-41 win.
The Red Devils out scored the Rams 46-20 in the second half.
The Red Devils travel to Santa Fe to take on the Raiders in another district game on Dec. 15. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
The Red Devils return home for a non-district game against powerful Lake Highland Prep on Saturday night. This game starts at 5 p.m., varsity only.
The most exciting game of the night was played by the JV teams. The Interlachen JV team was up by as much as eight points in the first half. The Red Devil JV fought back to tie the game at 36-36 as the third quarter ended.
The Red Devils trailed by 4 points with just over one minute to play. A free throw and a basket by Dylan Blalock cut the lead to one point with 22 seconds left in the game. A quick steal by the Red Devils and a quick pass to Justin Forsythe who banked in a strong lay up, gave the Red Devil JV a last second win 53-52. Blalock led the Red Devils with 13 points and Forsythe had 10 points. Desmond Shasklim added 11 points. Robert Fields led the Ram JV with 15 points.
