The 2011-12 Red Devils boys’ basketball team opened its season on Thursday, Nov. 17 at Gainesville High School when they took on the Buchholz Bobcats.
The Red Devils held a lead at halftime but had a bad third quarter and fell to the Bobcats 65-61.
On Friday night the Red Devils traveled to Buchholz High School to play PK Yonge. Again the Red Devils suffered through a bad third quarter and fell to the Blue Wave 104-97.
“I don't like to lose, and our offense is fine, but we certainly have a lot of work to do on our defense,” said Head Coach Steve Faulkner.
The Red Devils of course were playing without their junior center Tre Wilson who is sidelined for another week following off season surgery. Senior guard Brandon Preston did not play in Friday night’s game against PK Yonge.
“The team members who saw game action after coming fresh from the football field will certainly progress as the season moves on,” Faulkner continued.
The Red Devils will play another non-district foe  Nov. 29, as they travel to Dunnellon to take on Seven Rivers, a team that like the Red Devils last season, was one win away from the final four.
