When you’re hot, you’re hot, but having the big boys crashing the boards also helps out.

Rebounds were not a problem for the Red Devils, as Tre Wilson, Stephen Brown, Fabian Samuels and James Hunt crashed the boards early and often for the Red Devils.

The results of the first seven minutes of the game played Tuesday Nov. 23, at the Red Devil gym was Red Devils 17, Hawthorne 0.

The Hornets finally dropped in a basket with just over one minute left in the first quarter of play as the first quarter ended with a Red Devil 19-2 lead.

Brown opened the second quarter for the Red Devils scoring three quick baskets before players came in again off the bench for the Red Devils.

The Red Devils held a 46-18 lead at the half.

Making free throws also goes a long way in winning high school basketball games, and the Red Devils were on target from the free throw line as they sank 11 of 13 for the game.

Up 63-35 after three quarters of play, the Red Devils slowed the game down.

Both teams scored 21 points in the fourth and final quarter as the Red Devils cleared their bench again for the third time in the game.

Paul King led the Red Devils for the third straight game with 16 points. Stephen Brown and Deterion Ross had 11 points each, while James Hunt and James Monroe had 10 points each.

The Red Devils will resume play on Dec. 8 at Ft. White, their first district game of the season. Game time is 6 p.m. for JV  and 7:30 p.m. for varsity.
